Not seen a thread about our young promising superstar, but he's signed a contract now.

Fantastic news - great potential ahead of him.

Liverpool FC are pleased to announce that Jordon Ibe has today signed a new, long-term contract with the club.

The 19-year-old winger, who joined the Reds' Academy back in 2011, put pen to paper on the deal ahead of Sunday's season finale.
Ibe concludes the campaign as part of Brendan Rodgers' first-team squad, having spent the opening half of 2014-15 on loan at Derby County.
Since being recalled from the Championship side midway through January, the No.33 has impressed in 13 senior appearances for Liverpool.
Immediately after committing his future to Anfield, Ibe told Liverpoolfc.com: "I'm over the moon. It's something I've been looking forward to. I've spoken to the gaffer and I'm happy it's over and done with. Now I just want to kick on into next season, as well as the last game of this one.
"Liverpool are a great club and I like the philosophy here. I'm enjoying it - I've just been brought into the first team and I've enjoyed the games I've played in. Hopefully I can just keep doing well at the club.
"I have been given the chance to play quite a few games and I've enjoyed it. As I said, I just want to take that into pre-season and then next season, continuing with how it's been since I've been back here."

Flanagan's is just a 12-month extension by the way. Guess we're going to assess how his knee is during this period before offering him a longer deal.

interestingly he is left-handed but right footed.

not seen much of him on his left-foot, but there could be potential there to work on that.

That WAS about Ibe. Since when have you been a mod? What with this and the Sterling thread you're starting to sound like a comedy vicar. And I've been raving about Ibe since he came to the club, so have a search.

there's a lot of vitriol flying around, we are in a sad state, i was hoping this thread could be a bastion of hope, somewhere we can celebrate the small nuggets of good news there are.

no need to make this personal or send barbed comments.

back to Ibe.

If you try to lecture me one more time you'll regret it.

Nobody cares cos we all know he will leave us in 2-3 years too just like most of them.

Wasn't Sterling in a similar stage when he first started out ? When he signed a long term deal with us too ?

It would be great if we could unearth some local talent who want to stay in Liverpool because, you know, it's their home. More Flanagans, less cockneys would be a start.

He's direct, with a good workrate and pace. I know he's not a striker but he'll help to recover some of what we've lost recently, I love having players in the side that can beat a man and stay in front of them.

I wonder where he'll get the majority of his games next season,I'm guessing it'll not be fullback or at least not for long, that'd be a waste.

I'm sure he'll have his off days and we definitely can't rely on him too much but it's great to have at least one exciting player.

I think he could form a good playing relationship with Lallana and Coutinho. There were already a few nice little touches between him and Lallana in the Palace game. He's a bright kid and I just hope he'll be encouraged to really run at defenders, because he's got that pace and skill.

As far as I've read he doesn't have an agent as such and doesn't want one. His parents do the negotiating for him.

Ahaha, this little exchange has cracked me up, red maradona is like the 5 year old down the street who's just got his first police badge and hat for christmas.

I've enjoyed it too.

Gkmacca spitting that hot hot fire.

There some latent genius behind this. I am left handed but bat right handed and kick with either foot. I think we are just superior. Most left footed footballers have a proper magical left foot.

I didn't realise you were Argentinian!

i'm not saying it is going to happen, but that he might marginally have a better chance at utilising his left foot more effectively than a conventional right footer/right handed footballer.
