David Bentley could be off to Atletico Madrid in a loan deal, with the 25-year-old winger desperate for a move away from Tottenham.

And me, although it looks like Atletico are filling the spot left by Maxi, who we're hopefully we're taking.

Bentley's a decent player and would do well in Spain.

yeah the pace of the game over there should suit his style better, id have taken him on loan if it was an option but there isnt much point in us signing players for the right wing slight while Kuyt remains untouchable regardless of the level of performances hes putting in

No way. He had his chance at Spurs, and has looked awful. He's a chocker at big clubs.

I hardly think he's a choker at big clubs if that's what Spurs even are, and I'm pretty sure Wenger would regret letting him go. It's also worth saying that Lennon has been in great form ever since Bentley arrived.

I just think managers dislike his arrogance and off-field life style, which is fair enough really.

He's failed at Spurs but that doesn't mean he'd fail everywhere. Sometimes, for whatever reason, transfers don't work out. Doesn't necessarily mean that a player won't be able to fit in better elsewhere.

Glen Johnson didn't do so well at Chelsea for example.

If he has problems off the pitch a certain type of manager would be able to sort that out.
I doubt Benitez could though anyway.

I assumed you meant Choker or Shocker.
If you've posted on the same forum as Spidy for long enough you learn to kinda develop your own personal spell checker whilst reading.

Bentley's had chance after chance though. The Arse, Blackburn and now Tottenham haven't been able to keep him performing on the pitch (and not "performing" off it). The guy has talent, but the brains of a rocking-horse. No thanks.

At times he certainly was, and I'd have considered signing him then for the right price. I thought he'd had his wake-up call and was ready to step back on to a bigger stage. Even then, though, there were games when he was present in fact but not in spirit, and the way he's let things slip through his fingers at Tottenham - the club he followed as a kid, dream move, yadda yadda - has taken away my trust in his ability/willingness/either to hold it together at a big club.

Yea, I reckon he's a dickhead and a sulker but very talented.

It says something that Spurs can afford to drop him but he'd get far more games for us.

I'd much rather have him than Babel, perhaps a swap would suit everyone.

All valid points, Jules..but I do suspect we'll one day be talking about him like we now talk about Defoe and Bent ie 'the ones that got away'

Who's we then? Bent is at Sunderland for Gods sake. How in hell did he get away? That's his level. It annoys me no end when people talk about Darren fucking Bent at Liverpool. One that got away my arse.

I too think he'd be a good acquisition, for some reason.

Can cross, can dribble has pace and scores goals.

Which is miles better than what we have now.

He was, JJ is talking shite.

He got his move to Spurs because of his form at Blackburn.

You've mentioned before that he has pace. Well, just to clarify, he doesn't. You're right on the other counts though and I'd definitely bring him here if it was an option. As has been mentioned however, it's highly unlikely that Harry would allow him to go to a rival.

Wouldn't you rather have someone who can actually get into the Tottenham team?

He still went AWOL in some games even there, and it's not as if he went to a Big Four team - Tottenham were some way further off the top of the league than they are now. Wind yer neck in.

Yeah, I bet Portsmouth were wishing that after they signed Defoe.
