Hmmm, down with your logic. Not really, cos the more successful they/he is, the more they could expect in a bidding war next summer, which we are negating by getting this agreed now.

He hasnt anymore. There's no bidding war when he's got a release clause.
There's a bidding war in terms of multiple teams approaching the agent offering more and more extortionate contracts. There's no bidding war when he's got a release clause.

It has a bearing on our chances of getting the player though. That has no bearing on Leipzig.

We'll that wasn't Jon's point.
Do you just leave your tent abandoned in the middle of the woods!? You polluting motherfuckerDoes this thread need to stay open...the deal is done.
As far as I understand it, a release clause is just the amount they have to release him at. If multiple clubs offer larger bids then it still becomes a bidding war cos they can accept the higher offer.
Well it's not like they have to accept the lowest bid that meets the release clause. If there's four bids they can always accept the biggest bid, therefore encouraging clubs to submit a large initial bid.I don't think you've thought this through.

Of course if all clubs trusted one another they'd simply meet the minimum, but we all know that would never happen.
They have to accept all offers about the value, the clause wouldn't make any sense otherwise.Well it's not like they have to accept the lowest bid that meets the release clause. If there's four bids they can always accept the biggest bid, therefore encouraging clubs to submit a large initial bid.

They do? Fair enough then. Then this deal simply means we don't have to pay agents huge fees & silly wages to fend off other clubs. They have to accept all offers about the value, the clause wouldn't make any sense otherwise.

I had to google dynrodded.
Perhaps not so stupid if Barca are already prepared to pay £75M for him now. I shudder to think what kind of prices we'll see next summer, especially after Messi moves somewhere for 300M+.
