... actually do spend like the dickens in January and beyond, to become a legitimate threat for the title, as actually "wanting" these disgusting bastards to win it, as (currently) the only realistic option to the scum winning number 19 is only slightly less repugnant to me.

Ballack. Carvalho. Terry. Drobga. Mikel. Cocksuckers, all.

whilst i agree, even if they spent megabucks i don't think they'll come close to it

I don't give a damn who wins it this year.

I doubt it will even register.

it fuckin will if its the mancs. The media darlings get enough coverage as it is

I suppose, but I don't think them winning it would make me feel any lower about football than right now for instance.

I've had this debate before, United winning the league is so normal it barely bothers me any more. I wish it wasn't that way, but there you go.

It did hurt last year, but only because it should have been us, which is something we won't be saying come May.

I'm the same as you, united success is all i've known. But all the same, they would be insufferable if they took over as most succesful league winning team. Don't get me wrong, we're prob just as insufferable to other teams (i know we are), but fuck them salfordites

Agreed, but when they get to 19, we'll never hear the end of it.

There would be nothing worse than seeing another team come out of the blue (again) and win it after we've been struggling for 20 years. I really struggle with Chelsea at the best of times but as far as this season goes, they're the least worst option for the title.

Arsenal, but they have no chance

but i hate that downs cunt arshavin

'Downs cunt' is a touch harsh, like, but yeah, I feel your pain, he's a twat
[/quote]

i was harsh. I will rephrase

that cunt who looks like he should be a cunt, but still surprises people with how much of a cunt he is

who might have downs

I agree in theory, Keni... But it wouldn't really be "out of the blue", would it? They are, after all, the world's richest club.

I'd have far more of an issue if Spurs or Villa won the bloody thing, with less resourses than we have, than if chelsea and the new chelsea buy the feckin' thing.

I'm now of the opinion if we can't win the title anytime soon then I couldn't give a fuck who wins it, including the mancs. wanting others to fight our battles is pathetic and I'm feb up of willing someone on to stop the mancs getting number 19. we should do it ourselves and if we can't do it, who gives a fuck who does.

Arsenal are my least hated of the other teams in with a shout. As above, I don't think I could handle a team coming from nowhere to win it, no matter how much dollars are thrown at them.

I love Arshavin as a player, but that 'what the fuck' look celebration when he scores, fuck me I want to smash him.

Can't agree with that. More than anything I want us to win it and go on winning it, but I care very much about being overtaken by those Manc b@stards. Anyone, ANYONE but them.

Don't bother,Jules.

He won't get it until we see the media adulation and clamouring for a double knighthood for the Slur (one isn't enough for such a one like he) when they make it 4 in a row.

He'll understand then.

That's not fair, it's not about lack of understanding, it's about perspective.

Clinging onto a title we haven't added to in 20 years is really fucking sad. I know it may hurt for those who were lucky enough to witness our glory days, but we haven't been top dog for 2 decades, and therefore Liverpool FC don't deserve to hold the record for Britain's most successful club.

Ironically in view of the way your post opens, it shows a real lack of perspective in its own right as well as being defeatist. The team that deserves the record is the team that's earned it. So far that's still Liverpool Football Club (we still have the small matter of a couple of European Cups in hand over the Mancs) and I for one am not yet at the point where I don't care about giving the record up - to anybody, but most of all to that lot.

I think Squiggs makes a good point to be honest, for too long we have been nearly men, and living off our history.
We got close last year, and Christ knows how, and bizarrely, if it were not for some appalling tactics against shite opposition, might even have won it.
Perhaps we have dwelt in the past for too long and not been looking to the future enough.
We need to be able and prepared to accept the inevitable, put up with the shite and move on.
I think this expectation we are going to win the league every year is starting to make us look a bit soft to be honest, not at the same level as Newcastle, but along those lines.
As for hoping other teams tool up and do the job for us is ludicrous that just pushes us even further down the pecking order.
Make no mistake though, what happens in the next eight months are going to define our future.

regards

That's true, but when United to overhaul our league title records - and they will win another before ourselves - they'll equally deserve to do so.

I hate United, I hate everything about them. When I was a kid I used to hate them for denying Liverpool success and in turn my own happiness. But looking back we seldom even competed for the trophy, and that's all I'm concerned about.

The only trophy which matters is the next one.

The point you and Spidey make is valid; but that's a logical approach.

Do they deserve to be regarded as the greatest?..

Yes, but it's not going to be any easier to take just because its deserved.

I can't look at it logically; but at the same time it's unfair to fault the mentality among many posters that we shouldn't be too unhappy with our lot in life because we're pretty much at the level we should be..it was 2 whole generations ago that we were top dog.

My only irrational fear is that if we now accept the place we're at now; if we're not militantly demanding better; CLAMOURING for a return to where we once were....we will remain this way forever.

If that happens, then 2 generations from now my grandkids will talk about Liverpool the way we talk about Forest now.
