He has though Brendan. He played very well when Italy won the World Cup and has helped Roma win the league with some amazng goals and performances. He's about 35 now though.

I think Sergio Ramos is a poor defender.

Terry is very over rated (he was very good in Mourinho's first 2 years but not since).

Probably the one people would disagree with is Anelka, I don't think he's top class.

Pirlo is class. Alongside Xabi Alonso he's the best passer of the ball in the game.

Benzema for me. I've never seen a good display by him. I've never been overawed by Busquet either.

Thats not true. He always played good balls into the box, even if he didn't actually deliver them from near the by-line.

He was very steady defensively. I don't remember any winger raping our fullbacks when Finnan and Riise were around. Riise made the odd mistake but usually he had things under control. Stevie Finnan was very steady. They had to play against some of the best in the business too. Christiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs at his peak, Arjen Robben etc...

He may have seen him win four man of the match awards (including in the final) at the world cup, and his two European cup wins but that's all. You can hardly expect him to judge a player based on a handful of hugely important games.
 
Finnan was amazingly consistent & kept some brilliant players in his pocket for 90 minutes, how you can say he's overrated is beyond me.

I thought finann was excellent, defended well and when he did get forwards (admitedly rarely) he was extremely competent at it.

Masher is a very good player but it seems that most of my friends who are not cheering for Liverpool doesn't rate him as highly as we did.

So you're proabably right about him beeing slightly overrated at least by Liverpool-fans. Will be very interesting to see how he fares at Barca.

I still believe he'll be a succes downthere however.

the rawkers suggest otherwise he is the most under-rated footballer of all time only those with technical knowledge on the discipline of central midfield position understand the added value he brings to the team .in other words we laymen know nothing and the likes of benitez and woy will always play him as they grasp what we lack in the science of football/soccer .get it ?
 
Neither of Finnan or Arbeloa were electric over the half way line, but Finnan had a far better cross than Arbeloa which was more effective then anything Arbeloa could do.

Perhaps, but (a) there wasn't that much in it and (b) it's not a fullback's first priority anyway, not in the real world.

Your experience differs from mine then. In the past few days I've had a Tottenham fan, a bluenose and a Manc - none of whom know each other - tell me they'd been praying we'd lose him.
