What does N'gog have that Jovanovic doesn't have.

Why is Jovanovic entirely frozen out?

At least give him a chance to prove what he is made of...

x infinity

and i like n'gog

from the little I've seen of jove, n'gog seems to make the ball 'stick' better further up the pitch. I think this is the reason roy goes for the younster rather than n'gog. let's be honest here, jove was a waste of wages and we would have been better served going for a competent left midfielder/winger.

N' Gog is a fucking waster. I wonder what all these "He'll come good" people will have to say when he's 28/29 and still hasn't.

Jovanovic may not be great, but he is better than N' Gog.

By an aeon.

I'd prefer N'Gog to Jova any day.
[/quote]

I'm pretty ambivolent with this choice but Jova hasn't has a fair crack at the whip unlike Ngog. Which is worrying because I think Ngog is a bit shit.

based on what?

not that I'm an n'gog fan, I couldn't care less about him but why should jove get the nod ahead of him? jove's performances in a red shirt have at best been 'meh' and at worst a disgrace.

I don't like Torres paired with a striker in the first place. So I don't want to make that choice. The idea that he needs a strike partner is a little weird given that he's scored 99% of his goals playing as a lone striker. When everyone's fit, Torres should be up top with Kuyt, Gerrard, and Cole behind him.

From what I've seen not by any means and as one is young, got a far better goal per game ratio and actually got some sort of ability on the ball it's a no brainer really. Jova is a counter-attacking type of player who's arrived from the Belgium League at the age of 29. His touch is poor and his passing is mostly wasteful.

N'Gog wasn't by any means good today but he wasn't a culprit either. He made a few good touches, created some space and kept his marker busy.

how mcuh have you seen of jove in a red shirt and what's he done to warrent his inclusion? at least you can point to n'gog's 7 goals.

Pretty much.

He's like a "young Anelka" apparently

Do you think this is prolific for a career record then:

1999–2003 Vojvodina 43 (10)
2003–2004 Shakhtar Donetsk 6 (1)
2004–2006 Lokomotiv Moscow 3 (0)
2006–2010 Standard Liège 116 (52)

There's no doubt we could do better than N'Gog but seriously how anyone can suggest Jovanovic is well beyond me. From what I've seen he's not got the ability to make it at Liverpool. N'Gog at least has scored a few goals and showed glimpses of skill now and then.

both of them are neither here nor there.

jove - isn't going to be played as a forward so does he have the attributes to be a left midfielder (well, at least roy doesn't seem to think so).

n'gog - want's to be an out and out striker but with torres in the team he is asked to play the role of a forward (back to goal) and he doesn't have the all round game to make it work.

I'd sell both of them and get a left midfielder and a forward that can play with his back to goal and hold up the ball. neither are good enough, let's be honest here.

That is the whole point of this thread.

Why doesn't he get a chance? Especially when the other option is as inept as N'gog. What do we have to lose by giving him a chance?

Well, when he's actually PLAYED for teams then yes, it's a better record that Ngog. Doesn't matter really to me. I think they're both shite. We've been short of quality striking cover for ages. I'd play Kuyt up front all the time before them two. And he's not good enough either

Why not?

He has never played as a left midfielder, and yet he has only played as a left midfielder for about 200 minutes of football for us, and we are comfortable enough to judge he cannot play any role at Liverpool?

I just haven't seen anything from jove (in a red shirt) that's warrants him getting the nod over any attacking player. granted, I haven't seen a lot of him in red but it is what it is. if people say jove should get a chance because he can't do worse then n'gog, then fair enough but let's not make out he DESERVES/SHOULD play ahead of n'gog. as I said, based on what exactly?

Considering how you go on about the useless Babel whonevergetsachancetoshowhisquality, you're a bit harsh on JOvanovic, Neil.

Jova isn't very good either. Who cares which one of a number of mediocre options plays, be it Jova, Babel, Maxi, etc. etc. etc.

We need a better player in, and contrary to Hodgson's recent remark, we absolutely should offload some crap.

because roy wont play him as a forward.
roy has gone with;
gerrard
cole
n'gog

as a forward so why will he suddenly change? when cole is fit again jove's oppertunities will become even more limited.

63 goals in 168 games is about 0.4 goals a game. I'm not sure what point you tried to make, but you certainly didn't prove N'gog was better than Jovanovic with that little statistic post of yours.....

He certainly should at least be given a few appearances as forward off the bench to at least see what he can do. If we go down the route of judging players on a couple of performances where they played out of position, we are never going to have much success in the transfer market.
