The irony about the table and the lampshade is thathis success at Valencia was built around players that werebought for him, the board indeed know more about buying players than Rafa did. In fact most of his success at Anfield was had while Hamann, Hyypia, Carragher, Finnan, Riise, Gerrard, Cisse, Baros, Pongolle etc made up most of the team - Houllier's men.

So if they buy you a lampshade Rafa it's probably because that's what you needed after all, if only we were as strong.

Houiller finished 2nd before Rafa. It is not. I still find it hard to swallow that fellow reds are happy to finish 2nd.

I've noticed when we're winning and 'challenging', our team has world class players in nearly every position, yet when we're struggling the squad isn't good enough and we need an arab billionaire

Those 3 players alone cost almost 40 million quid. One was sold within 6 months, the other two can barely get a game.

But Benitez has been financially restricted hasn't he....
