I'm less worried about our transfer this summer than I was last summer tbh.
We know from the players we've targeted that we're on the right track.
The fact that we're in the CL group stages now will swing it with the targets that rejected us last summer.

The approach of adding numbers and not quality didnt work last summer and we'll be looking to add quality.
We've been in this situation twice now. 2002 and 2009. Both times we failed massively.
Hopefully we've learned our lesson and know what type of player we'll need and owners that will pay that extra top dollar to get what we need.

I think I'm also partially pissed at how so many 'neutral' fans are absolutely taking delight in our 'collapse' - which it isn't yet, there's still time for one more twist. I hope the taunting we're enduring as a team - partially due to jealousy, partially due to the positive coverage we've got, partially due to the concern the 70s are returning (inshallah) - will motivate the players next year to finish it right.

Hold on a fucking minute, we were NEVER favourites, not for a minute, just because we beat City didn't mean we were automatically gonna win it especially with the mega cunt still to visit...

The press laid it on thick and some of got carried away with it, including the manager seemingly....

Hurt??

Fuck that... finishing 7th hurts.... man up some...

Oh and while we are at it this total defeatism we are currently in thrall of means fuck all as well... I really truly hope City have already won it in their minds and then take their eye of the ball on Wednesday... we havent fucking lost yet.... we probably will but probably means sweet fuck all....

Last time I looked we are top of the table. They still need a point. If we had have kept some fucking focus instead of trying to desperately chase then they probably would have needed 3... but... still.... I say again.. they fucking NEED a point.

Our draw last night means that instead of needing them to draw we need them to lose... not much of a difference really is it... hurt?? for fucks sake... really??

IF, and it still is an IF, we do not win it then we can point to a little bit of lack of nous, we had no business having 10 men in attack against Chelsea in the 42 minute when it was they who actually needed the win....

We had no fucking business talking of whupping an opponent pre-match and then collectively panicking when 3 nil up....

Its just arrogant and dumb and shows a lack of experience from Brendan downwards... fuck it...I forgive him.... he will learn....

But hurt??? Nah ... we played genuinely well this year...we didn't blow it not in my eyes... we jumped from 7th to the edge of champions... Blown it?? that's just press hyperbole and enemy fans spouting shit...

That squad with those players should never have finished second let alone first and i've seen bigger shocks in my life than Man city losing at home so...

I wish people would calm down... i wish to fuck the team had calmed down for that matter... a cool head was and still is needed.

Yeah - you're right MT. Perspective needed and all that.
But I gotta tell you, that no matter how irrational it may seem to you, I was fucking gutted when that 3rd goal went in.
There I said it.

If we don't win the title I'm going to stay at the anger stage all summer. All Rodgers had to do was close the game down with 15 mins to go. He failed. Some are calling it naivety but how can that possibly be the case when the whole statistical history of football said we were never going to catch up that goal difference in the 105 remaining minutes of football left to us this season (15 mins + Newcastle game). At that stage we HAD to take the win as it was and put the pressure on City.

That wasn't naivety in Rodgers, that was his ego about his attacking philosophy tripping him up. And that's made me livid because even I'd bought into the hope.

He was about to put another CB on when they equalized but I agree. Should have closed up shop on 3-1.
The players looked mentally fucked so who knows what good it would have done.

Fair play DS... I was asleep and woke at 530am to read it...

Im not saying it doesn't suck we probably wont win the league... not at all...

On the bright side whatever happens un the Villa game there will have to be a premier league trophy at Anfield at the weekend just in case...

We probably will not have to pick it up this season... but maybe the boys can have a look at it and come back even stronger and a bit wiser.

Chin up pal.

Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance.

I read that as "Daniel, Agger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance".

Yep.... the 5 stages of trauma.

The Palace result is worse than the Chelsea result.

At Chelsea it was sheer bad luck, one mistake.

Against Palace it was a collective mental strength failure, at 3 goals to the good there should be no reason to behave like we did.

Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance.

Am I the only one that read this as "Daniel Agger, Bargaining . . ."?

Dunno if it's cos I'm tired, haven't got my glasses on or have just been conditioned by all the Agger arguments on here

Some facts about West Ham:

They've scored 15 goals from 18 away games. #impotent

They've got only 4 away wins this season, from the most recent to the earliest: Sunderland, Villa, Cardiff, Spurs. #crapteams

Their away defensive record is good (23 goals; joint-4th best in the league) but their away record (4W, 4D, 10L) just suggests that a small-margin loss is most likely the case, which unfortunately isn't what we need. #FatShame

You have to go back to the 2008/2009 season for the last time West Ham beat City. #3easypoints

I've been one of the more hopeful / optimistic guys over the past couple of weeks, but even I have to fold here.

It all went wrong after the Citeh game at Anfield....overconfident cost us the league. Having said that, i'd say ALL players were magnificent this season. Absolute top class. Congrats to them. We try again next season.

But surely you could look at Toure's mistake or the linos bad decision at City or other things that have gone. Or am I just clutching at straws?
I get ya

The palace one is unforgivable, but we were playing on adrenaline. The likes of the West Bromwich game and villa game was just poor

I disagree with a mental strength failure. Wrong substitution and tactical naivety is what it was.

It was partially down to those, but when the first goal went in the players looked like they lost the game straight away. They just collapsed mentally, as a group, which was galling.

I believe we've been playing on adrenaline for large portions of every match for a few weeks, & when that ran out the emotional exhaustion hit them.

We just ran out of steam, that's all, not enough first team players to replace tired legs & minds when needed & perhaps not enough experience in the squad that would have meant Rodgers could have risked us playing shut up the shop footy one game & expect us to hit the ground at 100mph the next match.

I genuinely believe if we don't win it this year we'll challenge next year & do so having benefitted from these lessons, however hard they are to take now.

We won't challenge next year.

Year after, maybe. Not next year though. Next year we'll win a few cups instead

Gotta agree with that. This window represent a massive opportunity to get our A-list targets. I hope that Ayre and co. show some competence and get the deals done early.
