Guy puts down 4400GBP on Angola to win the match when they are 4-0 up ... If Angola win, his return profit is 44 GBP

As we all know, Malawi managed to score 4 goals in the 15-20 minutes to level the game 4-4.

Well, he deserves it for being such an idiot.

A huge amount of money was lost on this game but this particular one has proved to be a fake and the guy who started it has owned up to the "prank".

You hear a lot about people putting these big bets on at half time on a team already winning by a lot.
A few years back there was a big story about a fella who put thousands on Spurs beating United when they were 3-0 up at half time. Needless to say United got the goals back and I think even won in the end.
I suspect some cunt trying to be clever did a similar thing in Istanbul. I'd like to think so.

Yeah, Utd scored 5 in the second half to win 5-3 at Whitehart Lane. Not dissimilar to what happened at Old Trafford last year.

There was about £1,000,000 wagered on our match against Milan at half time alone on Betfair! Lots of people still bear the scars to this day.

The "worst" one I saw was the Manchester United v Sunderland game about 5 or 6 years ago when United were top and closing in on the league title (it was about Easter-time) and Sunderland were rock bottom without an away win all season and only a couple of away draws.

Every man and his dog seemed to be backing United to win at odds of about 1/10 (for those who don't gamble that means they get £1 profit for every £10 the bet) - it was deemed the surest bet ever in Premier league history.

I will never forget the meltdown on the betting forum as dwight Yorke and Andy Cole missed a myriad of chances. As the clock ticked by they all consoled themselves with "well a goal has to come at some stage" - it never did and it finished 0-0.

To this day this match gets mentioned regularly on the forums and some people have still not recovered from the financial disaster that this game landed them with. Most amusing.

Me too. That fixture represents one of the few times when my 'anything but United' instincts are truly tested.
