Year in year out people do the same thing. A fee is quoted in a certain currency and the figure is all that everyone remembers. I do not doubt that the €18m will be converted into £18m in every single newspaper and website.

I just always assume the bottom figure quoted is the minimum we pay - the figure we feed to the press.

And the higher one is the max we can pay after all the add ons - fed to the press by the selling club.

What quite a few are saying is that Sakho failed to get a starting spot because managers preferred playing Alex so much with Silva because Silva's French is terrible and he can't really communicate. Marquinhos just slots in ahead on the depth chart on the basis of transfer fee.
