Hodgson: Written off too early

I think spidey's going OTT, as he tends to, but Hodgson does have a tendency to talk about the players (apart from the likes of Gerrard, Torres and Carra) rather condescendingly. I often get the feeling that he's hiding behind them rather than protecting them, and even if I understand why he's doing that (because he's in a vulnerable position himself), I still think it's a bit cowardly and uninspiring.

he's not even consistent with it, he rips into some players and defends others sometimes in the same interview (defended poulsen but questioned johnson) that is hardly going instill togetherness in the squad.

The bottom line Roy is that they are both shite results and shouldnt happen to Liverpool.

Lets not also forget the Wigan and Stoke games either, in which we were fucking atrocious.

Oh, and the derby.

If you think it comes down to just 2, you're sadly mistaken

I don't reckon he does think that. He's bound to try and defend himself. Unfortunately (a) he's not very good at it, as he doesn't think quickly enough on his feet to give good interview, and (b) his record to date is so appalling that it's impossible to defend anyway.

There's some excessive stuff being posted here.

So basically, reserves shouldn't be called reserves any more in case it upsets them?
They should be called the Elite Squad.

Yeah, but he signed Poulsen, so defending him is, in a way, defending himself. It's not inconsistent, just blatantly unfair.

Back to his actual point, 2 games? What about Stoke and Man City, both games we were never in at any point.

Hodgson's just talking out of his arse and making excuses for why we're shit.

He should realise that we've been shit for a lot more than 2 matches.

Neil's point is way weird though.

Liverpool 1st team: Hit squad
Liverpool reserves: Covert operations

So he's still sticking to his "our derby performance was fantastic" bullshit then?

2 games my arse.

Bollocks. Actions speak louder than words, and if the concern is that the kids aren't being made to feel good enough, I'd suggest asking the likes of kelly and spearing how they feel and if they feel undervalued.

Better still, just compare what's going on to how the best manager in the game gets the best out of HIS squad.

Oh.

FFS.
That is often true... But there is a hell of a lot of words comming out of Budgies mouth, and there just aint enough games to have half the action needed to compensate for all those words!!!

Beat spurs at white hart lane this weekend Roy and then you're post match ramblings might get a touch more respect.

Whenever Roy opens his mouth to the media it is littered with things he really shouldn't be saying as manager of Liverpool Football Club.
We need to start a list similar to the one GW Bush had. Just a big list of gaffes he's said as his time as our manager.

"Don't ask me what a good season is, because I don't know" is a good one, but my personal favourite is still:

"It's a shame after such a good game of football all people are talking about is how Liverpool have lost" after the derby, no less.

Oh, this one is up there too:

"I'm managing unrealistic expectations"

I want a gagging order on the arl fella

It's particularly disappointing as he started off quite well in the media. The pressure's got on top of him, is the long and short of it.

I want rid of hodgson, but then i never wanted him in the job in the first place, personally i feel we would have had more points on the board if we had not changed manager but that is just specualtion.

All that aside the constant griping about him is just so negative that it cannot help. The fans being pissed off constantly is a self fulfilling prophecy IMO... he has come out and said that we are not so bad as people think, i dont see how saying that is a bad thing in itself nor do i see that continued frothing at the mouth and gnashing of teeth is going to help any... he will not be sacked and thats the end of it so lets get behind the dodgy of duffer and see what happens.

Incidentally i was indisposed on saturday and did not catch the game are there any of those arab TV channel links floating around so i can watch the goals??

Mark1975 has put the MOTD highlights up in the Footy Vids forum. Hope you're better now.

What do you mean by "get behind"? There's little or nothing positive that can be said about what the man is doing, so do we make it up, or just zip it and say nothing while we wait for things to show some real improvement (not just one OK performance against a poor side)?

Im fine jules thanks i wasnt indisposed in a bad sense...

anyway, so to your question, yes i do feel we should just zip up and see what happens, i agree there is little positive we can say, i totally agree, and i also worry about how he will spend this much talked down transfer kitty HOWEVER, i personally do not appreciate the idea of sacking a fella after what 4 or 5 months?? for what, the team not playing very well?? Thats football im afraid... i dont know... i think every manager deserves a season, im just worried about peoples mental health if they are going to sit there and gripe moan and snipe at him constantly, its negative and sometimes its extreme IMO. I dont think he is a good fit for the club and never have and as i say i didnt want him in the first place i just feel that the constant whinge fest at his every utterance is quite simply unhelpful as well as it is pointless.

Right im off to find those highlights...
