Verticality mixes elements of direct and possession play, making it more attack-minded than the dominant style of recent years with a much greater emphasis on moving the ball forward in a controlled manner. Passing sideways too often, a frustrating feature of some teams playing ‘tiki taka’, is discouraged. The ball should only be played sideways to move the opposition out of their defensive structure and open up new space to then play forwards. If there is space to play a penetrating forward pass, then you play a forward pass.
So verticality basically means this is a player who has the skillset for patiently keeping possession and probing, but is also eager to break the lines with a forward pass or a run whenever there is an opportunity to do so.
I have never heard the term “insertion” before in football context. Maybe it’s lost in translation from Italian.
OK, whatever “insertion” is, it sounds sexy. Sign!
And not signing Traore. It's hard to argue against Klopp, he has been the most successful manager we've had since the 80s. He is human, he like every manager has made errors in the transfer window.
Keita, Karius and Ox are his biggest 3.

Ox was a walking sick note at Arsenal, and it was no different at Liverpool.Claiming Oxlade Chamberlain was an error shows what a know-nothing try-hard nobhead you really are.
It's easy to judge in hindsight. But what was wrong with signing Karius, Ox or Keita?
Karius was 20 years old when he became first choice at Mainz. He was voted second best keeper in the Bundesliga before he joined us, and he cost us less than 5 million pounds. Ox was electric when he first joined us. Arsenal fans were banging their heads after his first season.
I always felt Karius was quite a big risk, even at the time. There was very little to suggest he would be a top class keeper, and he basically ended up costing us the European Cup final.
Although if it was part of the equation of ultimately ending up with Alisson then even that was a price worth paying.
I agree about Ox - he looked a real player until the injury. That's just one of those things.
Yeah but
Yeah but when we signed Karius we had just finished 8th, and our keepers were Mignolet and some other dudes. I don't think we could have signed Alisson then, and I don't think we envisioned that we'd be playing against Real Madrid in a CL Final three years later. He wasn't a big risk for a club in our position then.
Recently, even our bad signings have played important parts in our success.
I don't think we've had a total busted flush in about 6 years

Sauce?Jude this season is looking very likely
Bit Harsh on all points:
1) Keita - we did not realize he was going to be injured for so long, but except for one game, he has been alright to good, and on occasions has stepped up to confirm he has what we are looking for. However, the availability has been a massive issue with this guy. Talent wise - I don't think it was a mistake and performance wise it's not so bad to the point where you can call him a failure.
2) Karius - what for 5-6M ? - what could we have expected - yeah failure.
3) OX - in his first season before that injury - he was not a failure. Whatever, happened after that - is an issue now. So again not such a failure as you put it.
Failures in my book are the likes of Andy Carol, Aquilani, and Balotelli - seriously the OX, and Keita have a long way to go before you can call them at the level of those former three who have defined "Failure" for our club.
Sauce?
Basically since Klopp got here and imo personally vetted every signing for mentality and work ethic before they joined. With that youve got half the battle won, you can train the rest.Recently, even our bad signings have played important parts in our success.

You trying to be German? A good sauce?
Our last "what is the point" signing probably was benteke. But he wasn't awful before we got him
For me it was Minamino. But mainly because I got to see much of him in the Austrian Bundesliga. He played the match of his life in the CL against us which earned him a career so fair play to him.
But to hear about our interest in him made my jaw drop.

I completely forgot about him. Yeah, he was an unmitigated disaster, as we didn't even try himBen Davies is the only signing which can described as one and he was also a cheap punt at 2 million.
