Great news, love him to bits hope he stays for the rest of his career and guides the next generation of CBs through to replace him.
 
I think Van Dijk has the physique that can let him play top level football into his late 30s. Just like Chiellini and others.
 
If his amazing "Hakuna matata" approach to getting past a long-term injury is anything to go by (and I reckon it is) he's also got the mental resilience.
 
There's not much miles on the clock as far as Virgil's concerned, it's easy work for him so I think he'll still performing at a high level at 33/34/35 like Chiellini/Bonucci are doing now.
 
I hope this is a display of confidence in his ability to return to his pre-injury levels. He's more than worth the wages if so.
