Nothing summed up Rodgers as well as the appointment of Drizzy Rascal. A coaching wunderkind unfairly overlooked by the establishment, that only the creative, visionary genius of Rodgers recognised for what he is, and was there to unlock his potential and elevate him to the very top of the coaching world.

Crawley Town, Notts Forest and Bristol City and Doncaster Rovers will one day point at Drizzy and say "He was once one of us! Until we sacked him! Why did we sack this colossus of football coaching? Why could nobody except Brendan Rodgers see what was always there?"

And there shall be woe and weeping.

Are you talking about Rodgers? He's already turned down three or four jobs, at least two in the Premiership. He'll be back managing by summer. And if he wants to manage in the Premiership, he will get another job easily.

Maybe not one of the Top 6, but we weren't top 6 when he joined us either.

Rodgers always looked destined for Newcastle. They seem the perfect match in many ways.

That said he'll have Benitez and Moyes to compete against for any Premier League job.
