So todays past player is Titi Camara. I never really cared for him to be honest. Seemed to miss a lot of sitters for a supposed striker. According to wiki he played 90 games and scored only 9 goals which is pretty gash. However he has been voted 91 in the 100 players who shook the Kop and according again to wiki he was a fan favourite. I know he scored that goal the day after his Dad died and then had that big outpouring of emotion - Is that the reason he was a favourite? What are your thoughts?

He wasn't a great player but he was a cult hero ...

I worked with his brothers when they had a Telecom company in Guinea. I never got me my Titi signed shirt though ... 🙁

I rated him, though I can't actually remember many games he played in, bar that game against Arsenal when Gerrard did his groin making a tackle and Titi scored the only goal of the game. He probably wasn't that great but I have at least one fond memory of him.

He was our only fit striker for a long run of games as I recall. Houllier playing him alone up top. i loved him and his winner at Highbury was a wonderful thing. Hero for me.

Ahhh yes I remember that goal now. A very young Stevie tearing it up as well. Nice memory. I watched that game in the student union at uni 🙂

He wasn't the best playing wise, but he was a good squad player and give it his all. Also playing the day after his dad died showed a level of dedication most players wouldn't have in any era (I was going to say nowadays, but that's wrong).

Easily a hero

He's getting loads of abuse on Twitter about his dad from Evertonians, kinda sad really. I looked at the profile of the first person I saw who tweeted him that stuff, surprise surprise, he's a member of the EDL.

Hodgson ought to be leader of the EDL. Anyway, Titi: decent and likeable, he gave his all for the club.

He was rubbish but that goal against Villa was it? My word. What a goal.

No offence intended but your comments regarding this former Liverpool player strike me as being somewhat lazy and, well, shit.

Camara played one season during Houllier's rebuilding process and scored 9 in 33 league games, several of them crucial winners in a year that Fowler and Owen spent mostly in the treatment room. As one of the club's few available strikers, he insisted on playing vs West Ham on the day of his father's death.

He won't be remembered as an all time great but he was hardly "rubbish".

Well Said Peter. He wasn't a great player but he was lionhearted, and that Goal against Arsenal, I remember the way I leapt in the air. And in those days we didn't win much @ highbury.

Top Post. Well said.

Hero, all I remember is him scoring a load of cracking goals (although in reality it was probably on a couple) and for some reason I have really fond/happy memories around the time he in particular and Houllier were at the club. Seeing the green kit in the youtube video brings it back.

How could anyone dislike him when he played after the loss of his dad?

Hero for me, but only in the ironic way. I may be remembering this wrong but I seem to recall him starting really well and looking the business at first before his form tailed off and he became a bit of a joke.

My abiding memory of him will always be on a RyanAir flight home from anfield in 99, the plane was packed with Reds fans who had been over for the game (Spurs I think) and were well sauced up. The plane was packed and the last passenger on was a large breasted attractive young lady. As she walked down the aisle the chant of "Titi Camara!" echoed around the plane until it was pretty much being sung by the entire crowd. I dont think the girl in question had a clue what was going on, but as a 16 year old I thought it was hilarious
