Hands up. I was totally wrong about Henderson and Lucas.

Cripes, it's not like SCM to overreact and either write someone off or label them heroes after a bad performance or two.

Players this season that have suffered from this, on this site, only for a markedly different reaction half a dozen games later:

Mignolet
Cissokho
Toure
Johnson
Flanagan
Agger
Sakho
Enrique
Lucas
Allen
Henderson
Sterling
Coutinho
Gerrard - Who for half the season had daily threads about what a shit captain he is.

Do you not get embarrassed when calling someone fucking shit one week, and then having to backtrack 2 weeks later?

Let me remind you, we were top of the league at Christmas - and Lucas had started every game. Since then he's been in and out of the side due to injury and Gerrard's form. When back in, he's played out of position, still made some superb cameo's - Stoke away, West Ham away, etc. - and been at fault for zero in our run-in.

But I understand the need for a scapegoat. I understand it cos most of you have no fucking idea what happens on a football pitch. I read the bile that was coming out at half-time yesterday; 'Take Johnson off!' 'Bring Countinho on!' times fucking infinity. It was a competition as to who could say it the loudest. Not one post about how we should alter shape or tactics to win the game. Because let's face it - none of you know how that's done do you? So we get unending pages of "Johnson's fucking shite" or this bollocks thread which amounts to a rather inglorious attempt at finding humour in a post-match 'analysis'.

Why couldn't we break through Newcastle's deep lying midfield yesterday? Cos someone who wasn't on the pitch is shit.

Christ.

I see you're still on that high horse called 'I play football'.

Lucas hasnt looked right after the latest injuries. He's even more slow, weak and clumsy than before.
He'll stay on I think but only as Stevies back up. Thats a position he knows and has played som very good games for us. But other than that he's very limited and a bit "shit" when it comes to the other midfield positions.

I really hope a good pre season can improve his fitness but I somehow doubt it.
He probably wont play as many games next year and I can see him leaving next summer.

Taking the piss yesterday, we had a mini sweep to see how long it would be before he gave away a daft freekick, I think it was about 5 minutes and then again after about 8 mins.

It's happened to a lot of players though, they play well before suffering a bad injury & they don't return to their normal selves.

The free kick when they were down to 9 players at the end just highlighted it for me.
So needless and so slow.

IMO there were enough of us suggesting he wasn't very good long before he had any injury problems to suggest that the injuries are being used by some as an excuse for getting it wrong about how limited he is/was as a footballer.

"Zero fault in the run in"

I suggest Ryan rewatches the Crystal Palace match ( I have by the way ) because if he thinks that Lucas was at zero fault in the run in he really doesn't know as much about football as he leads us to believe. Yeah he kept the ball moving ( slowly ) but he had an absolute mare defensively and should be taking way way more flack than Johnson. Then there is his customary unnecessary silly tackle on the edge of the box yesterday giving 9 fucking man Barcodes a chance to equalise in the last few minutes. He is a shadow of the player he was last season before he got injured and we need better.

Definitely some Vulcan blood in there...

A lot of it is accounted for in the Chelsea and Palace games.

Which is what I'm on about. I always thought he was either average or shit. But as soon as he got sent off against Citeh and I realised Lucas was coming back in, I felt it. I knew.
