Haaland - the cheat code striker

I doubt if he will play the same in EPL. That power play in him might not be easily on display in EPL. I would welcome City taking him.

One incentive Haaland would have to come to us would be that he wouldn't have to play against Virgil. When we played Salzburg at their place in the CL on our way to winning it he tried to run Virgil in the first few minutes, only to get outpaced and dumped on his fundament for being a cheeky ****er. We saw neither hide nor hair of him for most of the game after that, so I'd want to know his head isn't going to drop if/when things go against him.

I love the idea of getting either Mbappe or Haaland but have we realistically considered the financial requirements to get these guys?

Mbappe and Haaland gonna demand 350k p/w minimum (at least...) But this is the same Liverpool that reportedly has its top scorer for the last 3 seasons on 200 p/w approx (or say 250k p/w to resolve arguments).

So with this in mind, if we get Mbappe or Haaland on 350k p/w minimum I have two questions.
  1. Where is the money coming from for this considering our currently highest-paid player is on way less.... and
  2. If we do manage to snag one of those guys do we risk the likes of Mane and Salah banging on Klopp's door wanting pay equity with Haaland/Mbaape? Are we financially prepared for that? Can we legitimately afford to pay Mane and Salah parity with Mbappe or Haaland's expected weekly wage?

Maybe the only situation I can see is that Nike does a deal with Liverpool that they contribute to the players signing fee and/or weekly wage and in-turn, Nike gets to keep a larger proportion (or 100%) of all the shirt sales profits of Mbappe/Haaland jerseys.

Sorry, I see all this talk about these two players but I wonder if I'm missing something or whether people are actually thinking about this with a clear head. Maybe I'm wrong maybe we can afford Haaland/Mbappe but when I look at the Gini saga and Ben Davies from the Championship I'm not 100% inspired.

How many clubs would be able to afford those wages, though? I'd wager that only the chavs and the oil-backed clubs in PSG and Cit will be able to do that.

We're not signing Haaland or Mbappe and anyone who thinks we are needs locking up.

We barely had 2 pennies to rub together to get two shite centre halves when every defender in the city was on crutches.

Is Mbappe gonna be happy playing for a team that finishes midtable and can offer no Europe?

I always assumed the Mbappe (and subsequently Haaland) chat was for the lols. Has he played for the reserves yet and all that.

Does anyone really think he could end up here?

No CL, no Haaland.
Let Dreamy open this thread in the coming years when he's scoring 40 goals per season for a Manchester club.
"dead rubber"

City are buying both Haaland and Mbappe. The best we can hope for is an asteroid colliding with earth

The rest of the league said Liverpool will dominate for the next 10 years in 2020. The best we hope for is a pandemic over the world.

Simply glad that Man Utd didn't sign him. Alas, the thought of him joining Chelsea or Man City... ... 😕
