Absolutely that should be the criteria ..... otherwise we are just exemplifying Balague's stance, that we are not doing what is necessarily the best thing for the club. I'd rather a born & bred Cockney (not referring to Clarke who would be a very good option) and success on the pitch, than pandering to fan's favourites and continuing to flounder along.
