Klinsmann is exactly the sort of appointment you would make if you knew absolutely nothing about football and were basing your judgement on who you met once at a charity function in LA.

This better be some sick joke.

I'm desparate, squigs 😛

I'd agree, though didn't he play a major part in reinventing the German National side? That said, didn't Ged do something similar with France?

I like Klinsmann as a person and he seemed to do ok at Germany. Has he ever done anything of note at club level though? I can't think of anything.

Yeah and Houllier came here and did great things, before it all went tits up.
Ditto Benitez.

Maybe we should get a new manager and then, at the apparent peak of his tenure, sack him immediately

His peak might well be decades when from his coffin his gameplan will remain largely the same, but he's no longer capable of making embarrassing statements to the media.

Roy the Undead. That would explain a lot.

a hell of a lot...

Klinsmann is probably linked cause he lives in the USA and has been "linked" with us before.

I can't see him being appointed tbh.

As for the RH tactics. We let teams attack us, and drop far to deep. We don't have enough pace or skill in the middle of the park to get the team forward and keep possesion.

That is also because he plays Meireles at right wing, and sticks with the worlds worst midfielder Poulsen.

If we start pressing again, move the team upfield instead of being so deep, play our players in their right positions and remove the cancer of Poulsen. We will win games. Simple.

Not sure though, a lot of people often suggest that the bulk of the work was done behind the scenes by the nose-digger Joachim Low.

But he did clearly make it possible for this to be done by presenting himself as the new face of football in Germany and all that.

In all fairness,I think the board went for caution when they appointed Hodgson.

He was experienced, and could be trusted to spot the problems and fix them with limited funds.

Or so we thought.

Maybe it's time to gamble.

'The Corpse Manager'

His tactics aren't the only thing that stink!
[/quote]

Oy, that's my nickname for him (Corpse)

Stick to your own "Budgie". Or Budgie corpse.

My point is I'm afraid he may already have passed it.

Ya...almost winning against Arsenal with 10 men was great. We even trounced a team 4-1 or summat before that......the glory days..

Brendan and Spider would prefer a young manager with fresh ideas, if a marquee manager was not available.

Doesn't Klinsmann fit that description?

He had a big role to play in promoting the youngsters in the German set-up.

That was a good read. I agreed with a lot of it too.

On the subject of chalkboards, where is Ryan?

Wasn't Loew the supposed brains behind that whole setup?

I wouldn't mind loew as manager.

He was reading the forum the other day. He's obviously just taking a break from posting.

Maybe Roy's tactics are too complex and sophisticated for him to cope with?

He did, but he then bombed at Bayern in an admittedly highly pressurised club job but not one with any more pressure than he'd face here.

When Hicks approached Klinsmann about taking over here a couple years back everyone was up in arms talking about what a joke it was. How - one failure at Bayern later - has he suddenly become a credible candidate?

I realize that these are desperate times, but come on.

Klinsman can only come if he guarantee us he can persuade Muller, Kroos, Marin and few other of his compatriots to join us.

I don't want him here as he has done nothing to warrant the Liverpool job. Presume it's just the obvious link with new american owners and Klinsman currently residing over there.

Oh right. How odd! Did anything in particular prompt this hiatus? The appointment of Roy perhaps, and the turgid football?
