Going for the cycle.

So apparently supporting the Yankees and Lakers means you could be a glory hunting, fairweather fan. :laugh:

What happens if I want to go for the cycle in the big 4 American sports? Who should I support in the NFL and NHL?

On a global note, are there any individuals/teams that will have people looking at you as if you just got to knew sports through the front pages rather than the back if you supported them?

I am:

Detroit Lions

Detroit Tigers (I've shamefully switched from the Red Sox when I realised the Tigers mean more to me)

Michigan State Spartans

Pittsburgh Penguins

San Antonio Spurs (although I'm not really bothered about basketball).


The Lions are the undoubted number one. I feel a bit uneasy with people bigging them up these days though.

I guess the obvious ones are Yankees, lakers, patriots.

I'd go with the Steelers more than the Pats, George, based on winning lately.

Or the Cowboys based on name recognition.

And probably the Detroit Redwings in Hockey. Or maybe the Pittsburg Penguins.
