He has lots of qualities that are admirable and its easy to see why so many people defend him but sadly he just isn't good enough.

He did great in the air, including a flick on in the first 10 seconds to put Yossi in. Also the chest down on the edge of the box towards the end. I think he did well with the balls that we're thrown at him. Yes he missed that chance but he was stretching and did direct it at goal. Also remember he was an injury doubt coming into the game. N'gog should have been brought on to replace or assist him towards the end.

Not his greatest performance obviously but I wouldn't single out anyone last night.

Sure he gets up the pitch and puts great crosses in...but a very large proportion of the goals we have conceded this season have come from a GJ error. Last nights attempt to tackle was just another example. He cannot stop wingers from crossing, surely the most important part of a fullbacks role.

There is no way he should be anywhere near the England setup

if we got a decent offer for him I'm ship him out and put the money towards a proper wide midfielder rather than a striker who is doing a job there.
 
OK Maybe I was a bit harsh with the 'Worst defender ever to wear red" comment. Some of the names mentioned did make me cringe.

However that doesn't mean I can rate him as a defender. His inability to prevent crosses has been a bugbear all year and clearly shows fullback is not his position.

He is a class winger. His attacking play and crosses are probably worth 17mil. Just get a real right back in behind him ffs.
 
Ok well Im glad you cleared that up for us.

Johnson has played at full back for most if not all of his career but he is a hopeless fullback, but hes never played as a winger but hes a class winger.

I feel much better now that I have that clear in my mind.
 
Quiffing I know, and I did get halfway through and noted some sensible people did make allowances for Glen playing on the left.
He is not the best defender we have ever had but he is a long way from the worst and he offers something going forward.
So in conclusion the original post is a right load of wank and I am surprised it go to two pages
