Ox is a waste of space though... and Klopp seems to think likewise because he never picks him.

If there is no one we think is worth the money and we don't want to shell out for a stopgap, this seems like the ideal solution.... unless the departure was acrimonious.

from some of the body language Ox was giving off last season he’s either banging on the exit door or about to go full Gareth Bale at the golf course

Maybe ox’s recent engagement to Perrie will give him the engagement bounce… 😀
we can only hope I guess …

I have nothing against him. He is a good player.

However, I don’t quite understand the logic. Either we need another midfielder or we don’t. If we do need one now, don’t be so tight and actually buy one.
If you believe the press, Klopp is reportedly holding out for Bellingham, who Dortmund are refusing to sell this year due the Haaland departure. A short term loan signing may make sense if this is true and we have assurances that he's Bellingham is willing to join.

I was responding to rurikbird regarding the signing of 3 players, - in my mind we have signed just one major - the others are too young to be taken as serious signings just yet - even if they turn out to be gems. The Diaz signing - yeah I hear you but again you have to question why last season after all that suffering and shit we only signed Konate and no one else ? - really do you think it was good enough ? - No - that Diaz signing was a late signing that should've been made last summer, and we did need him in the end given AFCON and our long season. Again this idea that Diaz was being planned for this summer is something I just don't believe.
Because we didn't really have the cash to spent on transfers as such because of the losses from covid. Fsg don't want to put their own money into transfers but because diaz was a target for the summer and with spurs heavily sniffing around then they had to act. Klopp has a really good working relationship with the owners and I think they will do what they can to help in situations like that

Spent the Friday night in Paris having dinner on the table next to Pochettino. We were drunk. We swung our napkins over our heads and sang the Gini song and asked him why he never picked him. He was suitably impressed.
I'd have him back for the season for sure.
But Klopp never goes backwards.
Never going to happen.

Because he's fucking shite.

Pouring cold water on the speculation. Together with the reports that Ox will not be allowed to leave, it paints a picture of us betting on Ox to fill that need in midfield. Not sure I like it, to be honest - Ox is not like Minamino, he doesn’t do well coming in in an odd game unless he is allowed to build up confidence by playing regularly.

An outside chance that Firmino could be remodelled there and that’s the plan? Nunez and Jota 1st and 2nd choice through the middle as it seems…

I don’t get this obsession with keeping players at all costs.

The stupidity of Bobby being remodelled for that position, what a fucking joke. What we need is a more athletic and speedy defensive first inclined midfielder. We were very lucky last season against some teams, west ham against us at home should have been a game we lost, and had Declan been fit for them we would have lost it. Its the complete loss of control and lack of pace in that midfield that has cost us games along with lacking a bit of clinical finishing in some instances. But primarily there has been a midfield control problem, bottom line if the opposition have active midfielders with a bit of pace and skill we can't cope. It will fall apart next season unless we sign someone.

If we'd had him last season I think we would have won the quad. Too late now, I felt that was an important year long extension to also help us transition to a longer term midfield structure. Now that he's gone, he's gone.

Ahhh fuck… it’s actually happening then!!!!

I mean, I'd be sad if I was unfulfilled at work. Then I go home to Perrie Edwards and a mansion, of probably think it's worth it

If Ox has a year left on his contract then you can see why he would want to stay.

He probably thinks that he could and should play more for Liverpool and might be able to force his way back in. After all, it wasn’t too long ago that he was playing quite a few games for a team that won the league.

I doubt he will but he may as well hang about and give that a try. Worst case scenario is he still doesn’t play many games, he’ll likely get similar offers next summer to what he would have this summer but without the transfer fee.
