[article]Liverpool are facing a battle to sign Fortuna Sittard prospect Perr Schuurs.
Schuurs recently had trials with Liverpool, where he impressed coaching staff.
However, the Reds face stiff competition for the 17 year-old defender, where PSV, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund are all in contact. Bayern Munich are also keen.
After trials at Liverpool, Schuurs' father, Lambert, told 1Limburg: "Liverpool informed us they were very satisfied about how Perr performed there. The club are preparing a report and will share that with Fortuna Sittard. So we'll wait for now.
"I have spoken with Steven Gerrard, who is now a youth coach. He is special to Perr. That was of course very good. But he remains very calm."[/article]
[article]Liverpool are maintaining a watching brief on teenage Holland defender Perr Schuurs.
The 17-year-old is already a regular with Fortuna Sittard's first team and has captained the side this season.
He was invited to Liverpool for a training stint earlier this year and the Anfield side have been impressed with his progress.
They are not alone as Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City have also shown interest in the 6ft 3ins centre-back who has scored three goals this season.
Liverpool, however, watched him again last week as Schuurs played for Holland U19s against Hungary and Slovenia.
The teenager has been advised to stay in Holland to help develop his career but will find an offer from Liverpool difficult to resist.[/article]

With Liam Coyle injured, Conor Masterson banned, and Rhian Brewster and Edvard Tagseth both away on international duty, Gerrard was forced to make four changes to the side beaten in Moscow last month.
There were starts for Rafael Camacho, Anthony Driscoll-Glennon, Rhys Williams and Adekanye.
Captain Woodburn played centre midfield alongside Kane as Gerrard switched to a 3-4-3 formation with Camacho and Adam Lewis operating as wing-backs.
Liverpool were dominant from the start as Maribor were pinned inside their own half.
Jones shone on the left and linked up well with the impressive Lewis, while Millar stretched the hosts' backline with his clever movement.[/article]
