Maybe a bit early, but I am feeling nostalgic.

Put your fav vids in here of our legend.

Here's my first - obv avoiding the Galatasaray goal....

Here is my choice.

So many moments, but I will never forget this goal. It was clear from this moment that we had a extraordinary talent.

Like you say there's so many, olympiacos is the one that stands out but my favourite is the 3rd v West Ham in the fa cup final.

Two favourites for me.

1) The equaliser in the 2006 Cup Final. I was there with Young Peggy and I kept telling him all the way through the game that we had a chance as long as Gerrard was on the pitch. I remember hearing the stadium announcer saying there were four minutes of injury time and I thought 'just give it to Gerrard, just find him'. It was a great Dad moment although I'll always maintain his first goal in that game was technically even better.

2). The Olympiacos goal. My Dad was seriously ill at the time and he was admitted to hospital about a week before the game. He told me he would watch the game on TV but I don't think he did or if he did, I don't think he was able to take it all in. Anyway, when I saw him the following day I told him all about the fantastic goal. It was the last time I was ever able to discuss football with my Dad because his condition deteriorated rapidly and he passed away a couple of weeks later. So that goal which is obviously one nobody who saw it will ever forget has extra significance for me and I'll always be grateful to Gerrard for it.

As you were men.

Not arsed looking for a video but his goal against Marseille in the Champion League was outrageous.
I wasn't even surprised at the time because it was Stevie.
It was sensational.

The most purely joyous moments for me preceded his inauguration as captain fantastic. After that the huge admiration that one had for what he did was always tempered by the realisation that it would trigger another wave of 'one man team' stories. When he was just the prodigiously talented young lad doing ridiculous things and making people gasp it was sheer pleasure.

From a purely technical point of view I always thought this was his best goal, its just such an outrageous strike that there are very few players who would even think about hitting it let alone having the ability to pull it off. He seemed to be in a purple patch of winning games all on his own at that point in time and for me this goal encapsulates his refusal to lose, it was just ridiculous

All the media tributes about his passion obscure the fact that he's also had a wonderful technical ability. At the top of his form he could let a cross go slightly behind him and still volley it perfectly on target, he could choose any part of the ball and blast, bend or caress the ball into the goal, and of course his range of passing and crossing was extraordinary. The general naffness of his corners will remain one of the mysteries of the universe, but otherwise he's been such a clever craftsman as well as a dynamic force.

I never understood why he took so many corners given that 1) he wasn't very good at them and 2) he's always been one of the best headers of the ball at the club...he gets good elevation in his jump, usually makes great contact and directs his headers well.

I never understood that either. He's pretty damn tall, a very good header of the ball & can also strike a great shot from anywhere around the area, so it just seemed a waste of his talents.

Imagine if he'd taken the corner from which he scored the first goal in Istanbul. It wouldn't have beaten the first man or it would have been way over hit. Milan would have scored on the counter and now we're 4-0 down and we're all still on KopTalk waiting for the fat lad's book to come out.

It's a good point. Every now and again we've brought in a new player who's started taking the corners, and we've all breathed a sigh of relief, only for Gerrard to take over again. That's the Beckhamesque aspect of the latterday Gerrard - commanding too many things, and, as a consequence, allowing the other players to drift along instead of growing more responsible and decisive.

Err ... It wasn't a corner

Wasn't a corner - just a cross from our favourite Norwegian in open play.

Completely agree with this, it's always been my favourite goal.

Whoops, I liked Dreamy...I mean lefty's post, had to correct the error of my ways. It's almost a double dreamy.

I also think we need a Gerrard's worst moment's thread. It maybe somewhat against the spirit of the times but there have been some belters.

I always thought he'd be best off hovering around the edge of the box to shoot if the ball was headed clear or broke to him.

It could and should have been both IMHO. One of the advantages would have been that we could have mixed it up and left the opposition guessing.
