Ok - I have been bothered since the Europa cup final how a team like ours can just throw shit out in 2nd half performances. We have done this a few times now - looking good in the first half and in control and then suddenly everything goes to shit in the second half. What comes to mind the most are the performances against Sevilla, late on against Man City, and todays game against Spurs.

It strikes me that when we do all that pressing - it can be bypassed by teams that are very effective in their passing, we move to press then the players around us from the opposition move into those gaps - pressed player then passes into those gaps and hence our midfield is bypassed - non existent fucking zilch. I think it's this type of football that is typical of most Spanish teams, and it really fucking hurts us.

I said in the match thread that when we played Spurs at Wembley, we had the majority of the possession, and spurs just took us a part with long accurate passes. This time round we decided to let them have the ball mainly, and it seemed like they did not know what to do. Second half they come out and treat us like the they we would be treated - a Jose Mourinho type team, trying to defend. It almost worked with the confidence we have in VVD, but it was nearly all surrender by our lot - they did not have an answer to the way Spurs were getting those second balls, just like Sevilla in the 2nd half.

I have no fucking idea what we do about it as I don't think its possible to do Klopp's style and maybe do that passing bollox that Spurs do with constant running into spaces in the middle - or rather our players are not trained well in that art. Like Carragher said on Sky - Liverpool need a midfielder who can control that midfield better, those arguing for Henderson - yes he did well, but the problems started with both him and Milner running out of steam early in the 2nd half.

All I know - is that we really need to sort this shit out - our next game is against Southampton away - who also have an ex-spanish league player managing them, and I am worried we are going to face the same shitty problems. I am hoping we trash them but Klopp needs a solution - and before you say it - this problem existed with Coutinho and still exists without him.

This is a weird post. Yeah, if a team is really on, and we aren't, if they have technical ability throughout the side, if they pass and moves well under pressure, they can bypass the press, and it can even be counterproductive. This is like saying that sometimes we'll be outplayed. Yeah, we will. Some teams will barely achieve a draw! Klopp just says "fine" to that. I tend to say fine to that too. The list of teams in world football that can do this to us is not a long one. When lesser teams try it, they usually get mauled.

Historically we do fine with these games, and it produces great games. Drawing against Spurs doesn't exactly put the fear into me.

The problem is more the cheaper ways to beat us.

I dont know about that...the list of teams will increase when they go at pur midfield. What was worrying about yesterday and previous games is that when faced with the scenario we just cannot pass the ball and retain it for more than 2 passes. To me it highlights a lack of pass move training in our own half with the opposition pressing. Also for entire periods of the second half we could barely touch the ball against Sevilla and Spurs with players leaving gaps ? Did it not occur to any of them including Klopp why they were being royally fucked for an entire half ?
