FSG OUT tools: what to do with them?

Spurs took out a loan this summer of 175 mill to keep things going. Our financial position has seen us avoid such a situation so far. But it seems the financial situation of the clubs around the PL is much worse than people think.

If we can sign Thiago and Sarr for the sales of our own players, then thats probably the best case scenario at this point.

It would be really interesting to understand what FSG are predicting for the market - part of me thinks they are expecting another global lockdown and market crash whereas other clubs are spending as if there will be no more impacts on future operations.

Spurs must be among the worst exposed. Overbudget stadium loans. No NFL, concert, matchday revenue. No European qualification.

In our case, I agree with you. If we can get Thiago and Sarr, that would be the best case scenario. I think our owners are worried about the double exposure of potential losses from LFC and Red Sox.

Might be cheap but you still have to pay it back!

True but things won't be like this forever.

Perhaps it's worth taking on some cheap debt to ensure the club is in the best place possible when we come out of this shit.

Depens on when fans are back in the stadiums I suppose, maybe that is why we are waiting to closer to October. We’ll know more then.

Who knows how long this will last though? With no vaccine on the horizon or a working one for that matter income streams will continue to dwindle. Are TV companies going to want more refunds this season of the games are played behind closed doors again? The only way out of this off the pitch commercial activities. I'm hoping the appointment of the ex man utd guy and the fact we are hot property right now means we can start attracting bigger and more lucrative deals. It was alluded to in one of the Athletic articles that we have been and still are poor with our marketing. We've got the best Arab player in the world yet no commercial activities within that region, same could be said for Sadio and Africa. How about the best goalkeeper in the world?
I'm not saying get a noodle sponsor or a new energy bar sponsor but we need to start leveraging our assets better to ensure we can pick up some more lucrative partners.

I'm still amazed TV companies got that refund. Incredible. They got the same number of games and viewing figures shot up. Where was the justification for compensation? The clubs just rolled over, which makes the penny-pinching since then seem a tiny bit self-inflicted.

A post from Woland above reminded me of the Jen Chang shenanigans and made me realize that it's all been on the way up from there...

Duncan Jenkins aka Shaggy Alonso aka Shaun on Twitter basically led to a change of strategy that won us the league mates

Good video. I think FSG are doing a fair job.

As the end of the video mentions, we only need 1 or 2 players to refresh the squad.

A Thiago and a versatile forward would be enough.

'As the end of the video mentions' - is that a pronouncement from God? It's a matter of opinion, no more, no less. What about back up at CB?

Someone should let Duncan know that. He'd love it.

Yes, instead of me saying it as if it was my own original thought, I am giving credit to the video there for mentioning it. No one is saying it's anything other than an opinion.

And in regards to that, the video has persuaded me into now thinking that there isn't a need for 3-4 changes.

1 or 2 (after Kosta) could be enough. Especially in Covid-19 times.

With Thiago signed, and able to play DM, it does gives us the (non-preferable) option of using him as the 6 (or Hendo) and putting Fab into CB.

A 4th choice CB isn't going to be as transformative as a genuine world class midfielder nor back up for the front 3.

Thiago and a Daka/Sarr would be a good window. We still have a long way to go in the transfer window, and it does feel like we'll go to the deadline with some of these deals.

And now it looks like the Chinese overseas TV deal has been cancelled so another £56 black hole to fill for the premier league and it's clubs.
