Barcelona have reached an agreement with Liverpool to sign Philippe Coutinho after the Brazilian put pressure on the Premier League club to let him leave, sources close to the Catalan club told ESPN Deportes' Jordi Blanco.
Coutinho is set to join Barca for a base fee of €90 million (£81.6m), with bonuses that could bring the deal to €120m (£108.8m), as the Catalan club begin to spend the €222m they received from Paris Saint-Germain for Neymarlast week.
A delegation from Barcelona headed up by chief executive Oscar Grau travelled to Liverpool on Monday night to finalise the negotiation, sources said.
The Brazilian midfielder told Liverpool earlier in the day that he wanted to leave and join Barcelona, sources close to the player have told ESPN Brasil.
Liverpool reportedly rejected a an €80m (£72m) offer from Barcelona last month, while manager Jurgen Klopp said last week that the Catalan side can "save their energy" in their pursuit of Coutinho, and sources close to the club were still telling ESPN FC on Tuesday morning the 25-year-old was not for sale.
But sources have now told ESPN Brasil and ESPN Deportes the deal is set to go through after the player spoke to Klopp about his desire to leave.
Barca's interest in Coutinho predates Neymar's move to Paris Saint-Germain, though, and it's unlikely he's been signed as a direct replacement for his compatriot. Coutinho was a player the club felt could complement Neymar as Andres Iniesta grows older
Earlier this summer, there were reports that Neymar hoped to link up with Coutinho in Paris, but Coutinho preferred a move to Barca and could now find himself filling Neymar's role as the left forward in Ernesto Valverde's side, although the club eventually see him playing as a central midfielder.
The move is being led by Coutinho's agents Kia Joorabchian and Sam Kohansal, who also hope to negotiate a move for Paulinho to join Barca from Guangzhou Evergrande in the coming days.

Coutinho is already familiar with Barcelona, having spent time living in Barcelona while on loan at Espanyol from Inter in 2012, before eventually joining Liverpool from the Italian side for €10m the following year.
In four-and-a-half seasons at Anfield he has made 182 appearances and scored 42 goals, becoming a key part of Jurgen Klopp's team. He will be reunited with former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez at Barcelona.
Earlier, former Liverpool captain and manager Graeme Souness said the Premier League club would struggle to keep hold of Coutinho as it is hard for a player to turn down Barcelona.
"I don't think you can [keep him]," Souness told Sky Sports, which reported on Monday that Coutinho wanted to leave Liverpool. "The chance to play for a team that would suit his style of play, I don't think he can say no to it, as hard as that is for Liverpool to accept.
"Ultimately if he wants to go he will go, as much as the club won't want him to. He's on a contract but if the big players want to go these days then they get their own way."
Fellow former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher said he believed his old club may be able to hang on to Coutinho for now, but face a battle in keeping him away from Barca further down the line.
"I don't think he will go. But he will want to go and wear that shirt," he told Sky Sports. "Who wouldn't want to go? It's Barcelona.
"I'm sure whether it's this summer or next summer Philippe Coutinho will want to wear that shirt and go to Barcelona. There's nothing wrong with it. That's football."
Barcelona are still reported to be pursuing Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele, too, although Diario Sport reported there has been little progress in talks with the German club.

The Echo just released a story were its repeated that he wont be sold this summer.

And that we're not in any negotiations with Barca either.

I can't believe we'd be stupid enough to let him go for 82m in today's market.

For all my jesting, even we can't be that stupid, surely?!

Fee being reported is all over the place. ESPN saying :

Barcelona have moved a step closer to signing Philippe Coutinho after agreeing a deal in principle with Liverpool worth an initial €90m (£81.6m), reports ESPN Deportes.

Did we really need a new thread for this? Nothing seems to have changed, the Spanish press are still running the line that we're going to sell, the British press still running the line we won't.

Fee being reported as £82m rising to £109m. In this market ? Are you fecking kidding me FSG ? VDD is worth £60m, Keita £70m (it seems) but Coutinho only £82m ?

If that is even close to true then FSG need to be hung, drawn and quartered.

I generally don't read anything from ESPN, but when they make an announcement like that it makes you sit up and wonder.

They can't be that fucking naive as business men, never mind club owners, as to misread the market & their asset value so badly.

No need to panic mate, its bs.

Coutinho reported for training as usual today. Attitude 1st class as always. Reports that Bacelona in Liverpool for talks news to LIverpool

There are no issues or concerns about Coutinho’s attitude. As it stands he appears unlikely to submit a transfer request. (James Pearce)

Coutinho doesn’t want to disrespect Liverpool, the club are adamant he is is staying put as he battles to be fit for Watford. (James Pearce)

Echo said : Nothing has changed in Liverpool's no sale stance on Coutinho. This was at 15.22 BST.

Could be this is all from that ESPN quote. I fucking hope so.

The only thing missing from the transfer is a player from barca d team joining us (the new nunez)

If it's all bollocks then we can either delete the thread or merge them. However it was from ESPN and they aren't usually prone to making definitive statements without good reason..

Liverpool are crazy about Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes and have a chance of landing him as part of Philippe Coutinho’s move in the opposite direction, according to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

Brazil international Coutinho, aged 25, looks increasingly likely to move to Camp Nou after emerged that he is would like to make an amicable move to Camp Nou and that he has dropped his work-rate in training in an effort to seal his move. Barca coach Ernesto Valverde is said to be keen to keep hold of Gomes, but the Catalan giants will have a decision to make if the Reds try to make landing the 24-year-old a condition of the Coutinho deal.

Gomes has been at Barcelona for one season since moving from Valencia in a deal worth €35m, plus €20m in add-ons. He made 47 appearances in 2016/17, of which 30 came in La Liga, and scored three goals.
He had previously spent two seasons with Valancia, who he joined from Benfica.

I used to think that until Woland dropped the truth. We're owned by an ex-farmer who knows nothing about valuation. Don't let his money fool you, he's an idiot.
