Their observance of that rule can be a little, er, relaxed sometimes. The 9/11 bombers spent their last hours before the attacks drinking and whoring, to give just one example.

That's what I'd do if I was about to crash a plane into a skyscraper.

No you wouldn't, you would spend time with Wendy and your kids. Stop acting tough, you're a nice sweet guy - we all know that.

Them guys went deep cover and had to fight hard against their principles to blend in.
No, silly. It was all a Jewish neo-con conspiracy . They weren't Muslims at all

Nizar Trabelsi was the most conflicted motherfucker. From Tunisia, he played for Fortuna Dusseldorf, got heavily into coke and the next thing he's planning an attack on the US Embassy in Paris. Currently in high security prison and claimed as one of al qaedas main men. Imagine the leaps of faith that cunt took.

That is honestly disgusting, and I really hope it isn't true.

You'd expect better from people of their age, travel and experience. I've always really liked Anelka. I really hope this isn't true.

Actually he isn't black or Algerian. He's a muzzie convert though.

"Ribéry's wife, Wahiba, is a French national of Algerian descent and the couple have two daughters.[1][7] Ribéry is a convert to Islam and, following his conversion, adopted the name Bilal Yusuf Mohammed"

So not racism, then.

I'd have thought that Muzzies didn't really go in for prostitution and lapdancing? Maybe it's different in France, where everyone is a cunt anyway
There have been lots of stories about the French Muslim crew that are not very, well Muslim. They're a bunch of idiots.

Looked up the meaning of cunts in the dictionary and found a picture of the French WC2010 team.

They take bigotry to a whole new level. Talk about misguided.

The manager was a fucking lunatic though, which shouldn't be forgotten.

I wonder whether the stars was withholding information to their former national coach.. ?

Ribery is steadily positioning himself as one of the biggest cunts in the game. And a few of him teammates are not far off either.

Embarrassing to say the least.

I'm suprised at Anelka as he always comes across as the quiet type. Maybe he's the real closet gayer. Whatever transpired, its all very much out of order. Can't see Anelka playing for France again. To be honest none of them should. As always, I blame the French

he retired in June when he was sent home so the ban is toatally pointless

If this wasn't the most futile ban ever it would only be good for Chelsea. The FA should therefore impose some other form of counter measure against them.

Yeah. Hopefully Torres twats Del Bosque next time he calls him up.

ANELKA BEING A TWAT YET AGAIN...

Since April 22, 1998 and the first of its 69 selections under the tricolor jersey, you never saw Nicolas Anelka sing the Marseillaise. And for good reason! In an interview with rapper Booba to appear in Les Inrockuptibles, the former international reflects back on his very complicated relationship with the national anthem. A rallying song for which he has always had a kind of aversion throughout his twelve years in selection: "In France team, I never wanted to sing the Marseillaise, it never occurred to me the idea. And if you had asked me to do, I refused, I left the team. "

He has this attitude, yet he claims racism.....

"We saw the true face of France. In difficult moments, we see what people really think. They said "Ribery hit Gourcuff. Gourcuff, good French, Ribery, a Muslim. " Here we go too far. When you do not win in France, we speak immediately religions, colors ...

More Anelka idiocy

"Especially being the first player to come from the city and having a Ferrari that gives headaches to people. I've never understood why. When I was in Madrid, I was 20 years, I had the money, I bought a Ferrari. And people have criticized me. "

"It's because we come from the suburbs. There is no mention of the fact that Johnny Hallyday is moving by helicopter. For many French, the guys from the suburbs, they are in a galley. Blacks, they are used to seeing them sweep the streets, to the trash, nanny the children of the richest. Or sing Saga Africa. Blacks, they walk bare feet, they dance. But once you start to do business, oh la la ... "

Just stfu

The scumbag detests France so much but if it wasn't for France, he'd still be in his ghetto. It's the French idiots who are to blame by continuing to select individuals who despise the country. Boot all these two faced twats out of the national team, their only interest is progressing their careers, not France.

I'm not sure why you're being so aggressive about it Roopy, clearly the guy has some issues with regards to social trends and race in France, perhaps it's deeper rooted, France is very secular, so I would imagine it's not too tolerant for people of religion. And if it isn't inclusive in that sense I can see why someone might not have national pride.

Yeah, I don't understand the problem.

Whilst his attitude towards the above is probably a bit extreme, surely you can understand the reasoning for his attitude being so?

I can see both sides of this one. France isn't notably tolerant towards people whose skin colour is darker than normal (it's that rather than religion as such which seems to be the problem, Anita) but if anyone's THAT bitter about it they shouldn't accept invitations to play for the national team and then slag the country off. And I say that as a fan of Nico who would have loved to see him play out his best years with us.

By all accounts, France is very secular, some of the positions that have taken with laws around religious expression would account for that. I'm sure race is an issue too, but religion seems to be a bigger issue from what I understand.

And in fairness, he hasn't played much for the national team throughout his life, but I understand what you're saying, that he could have took a clear moral stance not to play for them at all as a statement if he was that against the idea of having any national pride or affiliation.

It's odd - he's defending Ribery for smacking a guy in the face by saying there's only anger because Ribery is a Muslim? Ribery hit some guy in the face, that's why people got pissed off. Has little to do with his faith - just like no one gave a shit that he and Benzema were shagging whores, it's just they were caught - so they got the focus on.

As Jules says, if you have an issue with the national anthem and refuse to show it respect, either do what Rauf did in the NBA (show respect - and this came after a bout of controversy too), or retire. Don't be a prick about it.

Anita is right though - Anelka has some issues and France has its issues with minorities on many levels. So now that he's 'fully retired', he's opening his mouth. Big whoop.

What happened in the NBA incident LTW?
Rauf, and I don't remember the exact reasons, refused to stand for the Star Spangled Banner. It caused major uproar in the US (this was even before the 'crazy patriotism' stage of the post 9/11 world) and eventually, he decided he'd stand up and pray respectfully. It ended there (i.e. the commotion).

Abdul-Rauf is perhaps best known for the controversy created when he refused to stand for "The Star-Spangled Banner" before games,[2] stating that the flag was a symbol of oppression and that the United States had a long history of tyranny. He said that standing to the national anthem would therefore conflict with his Islamic beliefs. On March 12, 1996, the NBA suspended Abdul-Rauf for his refusal to stand, but the suspension lasted only one game. Two days later, the league was able to work out a compromise with him, whereby he would stand during the playing of the national anthem but could close his eyes and look downward. He usually silently recited a Muslim prayer during this time.

So, refused to stand for a "symbol of oppression" yet was happy to coin in the money that the country wrapped in said symbol provided him ? Hahahaha. What a fucking hypocrite.

It's obviously a complex issue, but there does seem to be something rotten in the current generation of Islamic French internationals which goes beyond childhood alienation and the difficulties of living in a racist, secular society IMO. I mean, Zidane and Thuram and Vieira and Henry and all the 98/2000 side grew up with similar pressures and conflicts in their lives. But they played for the team and won two major tournaments back to back. Anelka and Ribery have just never done it for les Bleus - partly down to a shit coach, obviously - and Anelka now seems to be excusing years of poor performances by implying he didn't care about playing for the national team.

I dunno Bunny, the general Western attitude towards Muslims 5-10 years ago was very different to what it is now. So, I do feel he has a point, however the misguided actions of him and those of the other French Muslims players make it difficult to take them too seriously on this point.

And Crump, he was desperate to sign for us, GH wanted the icon that is Diouf instead though.

I've always liked Anelka.

Stupid ctrl 'x' and 'v'.
