We have a hotel for Friday night, but not Saturday. Were planning to wander the streets, or go to the all night karaoke bar that has the following tripadvisor review:

2. I have some contacts that can host (for free) an almost unlimited number of LFC fans, provided everybody can guarantee good behavior (within reason). Well, I've taken the plunge & arranged for me & my mates to stay with Oleksii who advertised on the facebook page. Wish me luck ...

You live in the UK Rurik? There is a great TV show hosted by ex-MP Michael Portillo in which he takes train trips around various countries using a 100 year old train guide (Bradshaw's). I recently saw his trip around Ukraine in which he visited Kyiv, Lviv and Odessa. All 3 cities looked great and Portillo was particularly enthusiastic about the Ukrainian people and how happy and friendly they were.

My wife and I are thinking of relocating to Czech Republic and one of the things I'm most looking forward to is being able to go on driving/train holidays to various other mainland European countries and after watching that travelogue Ukraine is now top of my list.

By the way, that facebook page is now filling up with stories of hotel bookings getting cancelled due to "virus attacks", "change of ownership" and "no electricity or water that weekend"; all to people who booked early and got half decent rates ....

@dantes - you should offer your services to help sue Kiev hotel managers

The only problems I can see are that they're out of the jurisdiction and that my heightened autistic spider sense would prove useless against trace amounts of poison. I'm afraid I'm out.

Get her credentials & chase them on LinkedIn etc then use them to contact her to check it's really her.

If so do it, & get your hosts to do it too when you get there, do a quick video interview on your phone between them when you arrive.

No way they can harvest your organs after being recorded about taking you in.

Win win.

This is why you shouldn't book through booking.com, if someone fucks up then you don't get anything back. You're better getting a price through booking then contacting the hotel directly and ask them to match it or beat it. The hotel will nearly always agree as they won't have to pay booking anything.

If it's the hotel fucking you over then that's something else.

I’m waiting for the story of how some poster has arranged to meet a Lithuanian lorry driver at a random service station near Watford for a lift to Kiev, where’s he’s staying in a Hostel run by a bloke called Viktor that promises hot girls that love English men.
