Free Agents

There is no risk at picking up some free agents, even though some of them might be a bit past their expiration date, right? Wrong, of course!

Who are the worst free agent signings you can remember? I'll start with Joe Cole. Seemed like such a no-brainer, a quality English player with winning experience on a free, what could go wrong? The pundits declared him the bargain of the summer before he kicked a ball. Instead he proved to be a costly mistake in many ways.

Aurelio was our last free transfer that worked out. Matip, the jury is still out.

However, with the kind of money that is on the table nowadays, it will be more and more common for players to run down their contracts for that big pay day. It is likely we will see more quality players in the free transfer pool.

Bernard from Shakhtar would be interesting, I guess.

But I'd rather just stay away from most of that list.

Even though it's painful, I'll remind you of Balotelli, Downing, Carroll and Aquilani all players we paid a premium on. Some players just don't work-out. Vrij and Chiellini are good defenders and I'd take the gamble and say they're better than Matip and Loveran.

Chiellini is legendary stuff, but he is the past. We need to recruit for the future. United should sign him on wages unheard before and make a nice hashtag to hang it on.

Jovanavic and Voronin. Fuck me.

De Vrij stands out on that list. Meyer, Bernard. I'm not sure if they'll improve us or not. Meyer could be an interesting one.

I don't believe Klopp will look at the list and prefer these players because they are free. He will look for the ones he feel fit in and still see a value in. So they have to be the right ones, not enough to be the free ones.

I've never liked Wilshere but every time I have seen Arsenal this season (and I've watched them with more regularity than any of the other top teams- because I fancy them to lose) he has actually been extremely good despite playing beside the hapless Xaka. He has easily been their best player most games I've watched. I'm not saying I'm advocating signing him, but I wouldn't be disgusted (as I once would have been) if it happened.

I would be

Hate that cunt

I admit, I wouldn't be getting the lad a shirt with WILSHERE on the back, but I think I could stomach it. Think we should buy N'Zonzi though. Had another belter last night.
I'd begrudge supporting the lad. Grade A prick who believes his own hype who the media fawn over

He's 25 and has mostly been shit or injured.

N'zonzi I'd be happy with. He's a prick, but he knows he is and I'm ok with that

Plus, he floored lucas

I rather want Banega of their midfield duo. Have been in good form the few times I watched them and has that Argie arrogance about him, but still rolls up his sleeves and run for the team.

Wilshere and Shaw can do one.
Never understood this obsession with players being seen as traitors etc for letting their contract run down. I let mine run down all the time. Then if the company that keeps putting me on another one I accept as I like it the job and the money is good. I get offered other contracts elsewhere but stay here. As soon as I fancy another challenge, get offered more money, or get an offer from a better company I'll be off. It's called a job.

I remember Criscito from football manager 10 years or so ago. He was a rock at the left of my CB pairing and capt of my Liverpool team. Ha.
