I've no idea whatsover but we'll put it in as a trial seeing as people on here have the inability to ignore those who piss them off. If it's unpopular we can always remove it. We're trying to put in some new additions to the site. The popularity of some may be trial and error but we're hoping they'll contribute to improving peoples experience on here.

I haven't done it yet, lol. Hopefully should all go to plan. In all fairness, the rest of the mods have been trying to get this done for a while but haven't had the right skills available to them and most people have been busy. These changes are not what I do naturally in IT but hopefully it'll be straightforward with no major disasters.

Guys - I'm doing some work on the site now there may be some minor downtime

no no no not a shoutbox, it is proven it takes away posting activity from the forum.. and will turn the site in to text speech infested childish pit (as this site has been going through a quiet spell of late... its not a good idea...)

However on the upside it can attract new members to post.. (albeit in the shoutbox)

I have experienced this with sites I have ran in the past.. and choose now not to entertain the idea of a shoutbox..

The site is in a slow decline. You should do something different.

There's not much fun on the FF these days and we barely have enough posters active in the other forums to make them interesting. A shoutbox might give the place a shot in the arm. It might even bring people live Dave or Robin back. The kind of people who used the shoutbox are the ones who have left and are missed the most.

Because there's hardly enough threads to keep interest going now. If a lot of people just use the shoutbox then there'll be even less discussion knocking about for those who don't want to use it.

In all honesty I'm not that arsed and as you say, it can be removed at any time.
