Jonjo was utter shite until that delicate ball to Suarez. After that he started playing like a potential premiership player.

nah he was sound, the only potential problem with him is he seems to always go for the hollywood ball, but when it works it fuckin works

That was regarding the "Hollywood-balls".
He was shite until he found Suarez unmarked, yes. Check the match thread I don't think I'm alone on this.

Like gerrard then, there is many a game he's just played a great ball but been quiet. Give the lad a break.

Before his assist Shelvey had a ridiculous ball to Suarez with the outside of his right boot from the right to Suarez who was in the right channel at the top of the box. In general I do think it took him awhile to get going though.

I don't think I'm being too harsh I still hold him in high regard and I believe he will become a decent player for us.
Am I not allowed to criticize a player if he's 19 years old?
Maybe "utter shite" is a harsh way to put it?
In the ratings thread I wrote that he started out poorly but gradually got into the game and did well.
I gave him a "7".

Well giving a player a 7 then describing him as utter shite is a bit mental.

He was poor and the team struggled for it when he first came on, but it didn't last that long; 15 minutes. He then got into the game and started really manipulating it and our team benefited for it, scoring 2 and creating a host of other chances. And Shelvey almost scored twice.

If pacheco had done but shelvey did we may have seen a different response 😉

You got me there...

Hope Meireles is okay, his movement is clever, he works hard, is dependable and capable of rasping a shot.

These games are all must wins and slip up is always lurking.

Would Spearing, Lucas, Meireles have played that ball?

We'll never know. What we do know is Shelvey did.
[/quote]

Odd.

Lucas' ball to Sexuarez for the first was as good as any played on the night.

You seem to be down on him no matter what, Modo.

Didn't he play the ball to Johnson aswell for the second goal?? He made a few good through balls on the night, as did Shelvey though.

Yup. His ball over the top to Flanagan as well in the 1st half was delightful.

If he keeps doing that then I'd be happy to see him starting most games next season. Obviously difficult in certain games where there's no movement ahead of him, but he'd been very ordinary as the 'creative' within the middle two for a long time. Didn't create when played with Macsher, nor with Crapsen.
Glad to see him get a bit more adventurous since Kenny's appointment.

I thought Shelvey was a breath of fresh air last night. Took a few minutes to find his feet but Modo's suggestion that he was poor until his assist for Suarez is obviously bollocks. Apart from the early Hollywood balls, his passing was as good as anyone's. Plus I just love how he want's to run the game. Constantly looking to find space for himself and always ready to receive the ball.

Lucas had his usual few moments where he miscontrolled and/or committed a needless foul, but was otherwise very good.

Its not obvious bollocks, He was poor until that ball. Too many free kicks and corners over hit or under hit, losing possession etc. After the assist he played well. But im afraid its not bollocks to suggest he was poor because he was!

He's a 19 year old kid who's learning his trade and clearly was lacking some confidence. He improved as the game went on.
