In that case my mistake, Saint. Over the years there have been some who've tried to put the save down to sheer luck, and I thought you were extracting the urine out of the idea that it was indeed a fabulous double save.

I forget the keeper coach at the time but dudek put it all down to him for working on the way he got up after an initial save. Doubt it would have happened under good old joe corrigan.

I didn't exactly mention Rafa in my post, John..

Since you've brought him up, he isnt the only reason we're where we are now.

I just think that we're too often laughed at for living in the past and for exulting in old glories.

Maybe we shouldnt wallow in nostalgia so much.

I later celebrated with my then gf coming home in the early hours & making her leave her lfc shirt on whilst we did it, & as I got closer to the erm, crescendo, I was commentating the goals, then, & "Yes they've done it they've lifted the European cup!" screamed at the top of my voice. The neighbours mustve loved me!

Thankfully said gf was a mad red & played along, instead of being funny about it

I used to watch the Ressies in Haig Avenue as a kid, and all he ever taught the goalies to do was twat it downfield.

On that note, there was an exceptional goalkeeper called Matthew Parry on our books a the time who Corrigan ruined, now plays for TNS i believe.

I've made no comments about Rafa in this thread..for that matter, I don't hate Rafa..I hate the fact that he has failed and that too many people still say he hasnt.

St. George accused me of lacing every post I make with a Rafa diatribe; the fact is I don't.

We talk about Istanbul as being one of our greatest nights of football, and it was for me...

I can remember what I was doing and where I was standing to this day when the goals went in..I can remember practically every word I screamed..I remember going to work literally hours after the game ended and that Hairy Keys went off the air.. and I was too stunned to even talk or think clearly..a Spurs colleague of mine just smiled at me at work and said 'great game'.

Why arent I adding my own posts in this thread then?

Because if we had managed to beat an inferior Milan team in 2007, and if we had somehow managed to pip the Mancs last year, we wouldnt go on and on and on about Istanbul.
