So let's say that we get both Dick van Dyke and Naggy Caterer.

How would our line up look?

I'm guessing:

Mignolet

Clyne
Van Dijk
Matip
Milner

Can
Keita
Coutinho

Salah
Mané

Firmino

But is it that straightforward?

Is Coutinho ready to play in that midfield role?

What about Lallana, Wijnaldum and Henderson?
Of course I get that we're gonna be rotating quite a bit during the season.
However there will be a form of best XI, you know the team that starts against Man U, Chelsea etc.

Surely a fit Sturridge with a full pre-season under his belt starts up front though regardless of who else plays?
 
Yeah, if sturridge is fully fit he simply has to start, he makes shit happen

Sturridge is one of my favourite players so I'm with you on that.

Putting to one side the hilarious concept of a "fully fit Sturridge", if his full fitness means that even at 100% he is a now diminished version of the Old Sturridge - ie can't run very fast anymore - then he should not be starting games.

His pace, movement and acceleration were a huge part of his game, and without them he's still a fine player and great finisher, but would be half the player.
 
I'm not sure Sturridge is a definite starter, especially less so in Klopps]'s system.

Would Keita potentially play that deepest role with Gini and Coutinho the other 2 in the midfield 3?

I think Hendo, Keita, Coutinho is most likely there.

Its a tough call if everyone is fit..

Hypothetically, if Henderson doesn't start regularly, and Milner isn't our left back, then who is captain?
 
Are any of you still stuck to the idea that;

  1. Studge will ever be full fit again
  2. His fully fit now is anywhere near the level we need/remember him for

He should be shipped out asap and should be nowhere near the starting 11 ffs
 
Coutinho should be a candidate as he's a guaranteed starter when fit. Not sure he has the personality for a captain, but then not sure how much a captain is even relevant.

A captain has to be the player with the most argumentative / persuasive personality, to get away with a constant harassment of referees. Definitely not Coutinho ! After Hendo, Can perhaps .. most of other players seem to be mild-mannered !
 
We basically have a team without a leader. I've never considered Henderson to be that much of a captain. Of course I've never really been captained by him.
