Just another thread where we can have fun and not worry about the sad reality of our place in the pecking order right now.
Favourite goal and best celebration at the game, or in a bar or on sofa watching a Liverpool goal.
Favourite goal conceded by a rival.
I'll start things off .
Live: Owen's second in cup final 2001. I ended up down about ten rows on my head.
Not live: Stevie G against Olympikos 2005. I was too nervous to watch so drove my car at high speed round the lanes near where I lived with radio on as each goal went in.
Also a mention to Terry Mac's goal in Rome in '77. I was with my old man watching on TV. Remember not that much except when he scored we both jumped up and went mental and I landed face first on the coffee table. Still got a tiny scar.
Fave rival conceding: Iniesta scoring to knock the russian crook's mob out of champion's League.
Was on motorway listening on Five Live, window down, volume up, punching the air and the steering wheel, screaming into the night.

Good idea

At the game would probably be when Cole scored a last minute winner vs Bolton (I haven't been to any big games) but it was the 92nd minute and the kop was absolutely roaring

Not live would be when Babel scored that flukey one against Utd and we won 2-1, I was running about everywhere in sheer shock

Fave goal conceded by a rival would probably be when Aguero scored against QPR last season. I was watching it with a load of mancs at the time so it was boss.

The second and third goal in Istanbul. Sorry to be boring, but I've never been as animated as then.

I used to go to the Flute to watch all the big matches in the Champions League and in the league and that was always brilliant.Although I was always a bit fucked so it's difficult to remember most of them. The Dossena one against United was definitely the funniest.

Got to be Istanbul for me. Vlad Smicer's goal got me thinking we were on to something and Xabi's goal of course was amazing, but the best bit wasn't a goal at all - I just lost it when The Dude saved that last hopeless peno.attempt from Shevchenko. At the time I missed those amazing scenes with the players rushing up to him and all over the place (though I've seen them numerous times since then on videos etc.) because I was off running round the house howling like a banshee. Truly one of the greatest nights of my entire life.

My fave celebration ever and I don't think this will be beaten, is Temouri Ketsbia for the geordie cunts when he booted fuck out the advertising hoardings.

Fuckin hilarious.

Alan Kennedy v Real in 1981

Michael Owen's 2nd in the 2001 FA Cup Final

Robbie Fowler v Alaves in 2001

Yossi v Fulham in 2009

Mark Walters v Auxerre 1991

*imagines a septagenarian running around the house howling like a banshee*

When Smicer's goal went in, I punched the air about 50 times. So much so, I was worried my arm might come out of its socket.

I have many memories that spring to mind.

I was at Highbury for the FA cup semi final vs Portsmouth in 1992 when we were one down with minutes left before Barnes curled a wonderful free kick against the post and Whelan scored to force a replay.

I was also at the Newcastle game when Collymore scored that late winner.

For the most exhilarating moments, however, I concur with Jules. May 25 2005 was truly magical, other worldly even. I had left England at this point and was glued to the TV and found myself in despair at half time. I refused to give up but knew something incredible needed to happen in the second half. And it did.

I have told my children the story of the miracle of Istanbul many times. About courage in adversity and believing despite seemingly insurmountable odds. I have never been able to recount what happened that night with dry eyes. Unbelievable scenes.
