Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce the opening of a new official club store in Belfast.

The 2,000 sq. ft. unit will be based on Castle Lane in the heart of Belfast's shopping district. The store will carry the full range of official club products and will create at least 10 new jobs for the city.

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish will officially open the store - Liverpool's fifth official club shop - at 10am next Friday, November 5.

Playwright Nicky Alt will be in attendance on Saturday, November 6 to sign copies of his One Night in Istanbul DVD.

Lee Dwerryhouse, LFC Head of Retail, said: "We are really looking forward to the store opening and would encourage all of our fans in the area to come along.

"As a city Belfast has many parallels with Liverpool and the club's fan base in the city is huge.

"Our fans in Belfast are extremely passionate and their loyalty to the club is unbelievable. I am delighted we have been able to reward that loyalty and passion with our first store outside of the north west of England.

"We considered many sites for our next store but all the signs kept pointing back to Belfast. This store signals the start of an expansion strategy that will see a host of official club stores opening outside of Liverpool over the next few years."

Remember the old Liverpool store here?

I think Phil Neal owned it, or am I mistaken?

Didn't even know there was one, but I never travelled to Belfast much until I went to uni so its probably before my time.

irishred (not to be confused with irish_red) and errr..... nornirongunner (is he still here)

Hope the gooner is still here, he doesn't post often but it's he/she gives a decent opinion without winding up too much. He also helped develop the SCM 'Full Dreamy'.

The Liverpool store was near where the Celtic shop is now wasn't it? Ann Street?
[/quote]

Yeah it was. I take it you are on the SCMer's from NI. But the big question is, was it the Phil Neal Liverpool store?

No idea, but I think the original store was opened by John Barnes.

*useless fact*

*may not be fact.

It was the Phil Thompson Liverpool store, and it was down across from the Rangers store on Ann St I think.

I went to it a few weeks after it opened, John Barnes was there signing stuff. Got my mum to drive me up to Belfast for it, brought my Liverpool home shirt and Barnes signed it for me. 'To Ryan, best wishes John Barnes' - I've got it framed too. Good times.

The shop was pure shite though.

I knew it was Phil somebody!

I really was a shite wee shop. Hopefully the new store will be good.

Dalglish wows crowds in Belfast
5th Nov 2010 - Latest News

Kenny Dalglish was the guest of honour as hundreds of fans turned out to witness the Liverpool legend officially open the new club store in Belfast on Friday morning.

The Reds' Academy Ambassador was overwhelmed by the number of supporters that flocked to the new 2,000 sq ft unit on Castle Lane in the heart of the city's shopping district and was quick to point out the importance of what is now Liverpool's fifth official store.

"They must have thought it was Steven or Fernando coming here! When they find out it's me they may be disappointed!" joked Dalglish.

"But I do think it's an important thing for the club to get out and see as many people as they possibly can, especially the ones that can't come to us.

"It's nice that there has been such a big turnout here. The shop can be a fantastic success and is only going to benefit the Football Club. It gives the people of Northern Ireland the opportunity to feel a little bit closer to us.

"There are plans to open other facilities in Dublin and Oslo as well, so it's all very positive."
