Anticipating the decison

[article]
Anfield will be isolated in T1.
[/article]

[article]
It's a farce mate, but what do you expect from the greedy cvnts who brought us "PROJECT - LiVARpool can't be denied the title that's been engineered for them by PiGMOL and the multi-billionaire football club owners need more of your money so football must continue for the integrity of the sport despite a global pandemic"?
[/article]

[article]
If ever anyone wanted to know what drives English professional football at all levels you only have to see the indecent and irresponsible rush last season, and this, to re-establish the income stream is the only evidence that they'd need.
[/article]

[article]
To maintain the integrity of the season, there should not be any fans allowed till next season.
Not sure how I feel if for example the title came down to us and liverpool (I know it doesn't seem a rational thought right now) and we've already played our home game behind closed doors while we play the return at their's with their fans in attendance.
I know all clubs are suffering, but the two yank teams are just having a laugh. They are basically running the league.
[/article]

[article]
Feel for the rags and dippers due to not being able to have all their fans in their grounds but they have the massive bonus of having complete control of PiGMOL reps and their corrupt decisions .
[/article]

Before the decision, this guy was probably being sarcastic

[article]
How can it be fair for teams in tier 1 areas to play their home games with 4,000 fans, and teams in tier 3 to play home games with no fans? Then again when was the PL ever fair, bent refs, bent var etc. I assume liverpool will be given a special tier 3 exemption status, and united will just move their home matches to London
[/article]

Then reality came

[article]
Unbelievable, just listened to news, PIGMOL must be doing the fucking Covid stats now, the only place talked about for moving from tier 2 to tier 1 was fucking liverpool
[/article]

[article]
Ha ha YCNMIU Liverpool and London allowed supporters but not Manchester.
[/article]

[article]
Typical dippers, the rules are bent to please them. Fans for them but not Manchester.
[/article]

[article]
Given that the absence of fans has clearly had some impact on games, how can it be possibly fair that some teams have that where others don't?!
[/article]

[article]
Bit stupid, does the away team get to play with an extra goalkeeper then? Or is that unfair?
[/article]

[article]
How will the “Bus Wrecking Twats” dole out 2k tickets, thankless task for any Club. Watch out for their cheerful chappy fans churning out forgeries by the thousand.
[/article]

It would make most logistical sense - whilst also continuing to grow the club's bond with the local community if they went to people in walking distance of the stadium, perhaps with a few exceptions for disable ST holders too.

People in L4 aren’t rich and won’t buy nice expensive tickets.

I get your point though.

Has anyone from the club suggested they will be expensive tickets? That would be an own goal, IMO

PR own goal. Not a financial one. Why sell 2,000 tickets for £60 when you can get corporate bods in for 20 times that?

The shite are doing a ballot for “eligible” supporters. They haven’t said what eligible actually means.

Are corporate bods actually going to buy? the boxes won't be open surely? (although on paper that looks an easier thing to keep socially distanced, like a restaurant!)

They’ll still have their outside seats available and the boxes won’t really be different to the hospitality rules. They are effectively a restaurant.

A PR own goal from the owners who brought you increased ticket prices, staff furlough, attempts to trademark "Liverpool" etc? At some point they will learn

I'm not even sure there will be that many corporates. I mean, most of the revenue from that comes from the boxes and the catering etc, which presumably won't be fully operational, if operational at all. It's surely going to mainly be a case of getting people spaced around the stands in the open air. And as Brizzle notes, we'd be crazy to charge much for them. I think the clubs should realise that they're not going to make that much from the first phase of this, and should therefore push the PR stuff with the local fans and recover some goodwill. That will see them benefit financially in the long term.

I’d expect the catering to be a breeze to kick start as it’s just a restaurant that has football seats attached. In terms of stewarding it will also be a breeze. Only a single stand (I’m guessing the main stand) will be opened which cuts down the number of staff being employed on the day compared to having 500 across each stand.

As Tom points out, the club are shite at reading the fans.

From the club

[article]A minimum of 75 per cent of the 2,000 tickets available for the Wolves fixture will be used for general admission, which is aligned to the ratio used when the stadium is at full capacity. The remaining tickets will be allocated to hospitality supporters, players and to meet contractual obligations. Only Anfield’s Main Stand will be in use for the Wolves fixture.
[/article]

Normal catering etc for that small number probably won't even see them do much more than break even.

Surely the tickets will be allocated to people living in the Liverpool postcode or other tier 2 places as you can’t travel to different tiers if your in tier 3 unless it’s Buisness related.

Applicants have to be from the Liverpool region. That doesn’t mean those in the ground will be from here.

Pressure of relegation fight getting to him?
[article]Chris Wilder has taken another swipe at Jurgen Klopp over the partial return of fans to some clubs.

The Sheffield United boss last week accused Klopp of being “selfish” over his demands for the return of five substitutes because it would help Liverpool.

And Wilder has taken aim again at the Reds boss for not calling for supporters to be allowed back into all Premier League grounds.

He says it is unfair that Liverpool can welcome back 2,000 supporters after next Wednesday while United and most other northern clubs cannot because they are in tier 3.

“He’s a world-class manager and a world-class politician, who cares about Liverpool,” he said. “That’s all he cares about.

“He was never going to say what about Sheffield United getting their fans back in or Newcastle or Man City or Man United or anybody else. He’s a world-class politician.

“I know his background on support and how much Anfield has been a fortress. The Liverpool support is magnificent, I know it is because my old man is from that part of the world.

“I know he’s been vocal on that and Jurgen isn’t going to say it’s not right that they can have fans in as they’re in tier 2 and Sheffield United, Leeds, Manchester and all the rest of the north are not allowed in.

“It was funny looking at that map, wasn’t it? Shock! I think us in the north were fully expecting us to be in the old tier three as they kindly put us in.”

Wilder's comments come after he highlighted what he sees as self-interest among certain Premier League managers last week.

"Cards on the table, he’s (Klopp's) going to look after his own club," said the Blades boss. "I’ve got incredible respect for these top managers because they produce top results and win things.

"But they’re selfish, they look after their own clubs. They’re not going to be bothered about Sheffield United, they’re not going to be bothered about England.

"They’re going to be bothered about Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea, which I understand and respect. I would be the same, but I’m bothered about Sheffield United and it doesn’t help us to have five subs."

Oh I don't know. £500 a pop buys a helluva lot of Fried Chicken, Pizza and MacD's burgers. Have to make do during these challenging times.

It’s always those at the bottom who whinge. And they make it out likes it is Klopp’s decision who to put in tier 3.

This wouldn’t look out of place in the meltdown thread.

It's a bit hypocritical (even though he admits as much) that Wilder says Klopp is just looking out for his club when of course Wilder is just doing exactly the same. With top teams potentially weakened (by more injuries due to increased playing time) that works to the non-Euro teams' benefit.
Though if Klopp and Guardiola etc. were actually utilising all three subs per game (even if the third is only in the last 10 mins) it would make their case stronger.

It’s a weird one saying “they don’t use 3 subs anyway”. If you make 2 subs around 60 you’re not going to make another one on 75 or when you could have 20 minutes of play and hoping you don’t get a red or another injury.

So, er, what does Wilder want Klopp to do? Campaign for everyone in tier 3 to be moved to tier 2 for footballling purposes? And he thinks Klopp's the selfish one? Bloody hell!

He feels the pressure to agree to the 5 subs rule and tries to find a justification not to - so he has to find an instance of Klopp being “selfish” as a way to excuse his own cynical selfishness about the 5 subs rule. Klopp is right to point out that Wilder now got only 1 point playing with 3 subs, so it’s not much an advantage for the minnows.
