What ever happened to Reyes?
[/quote]

Joined Madrid after his loan spell with real and athletico loaned him to Benfica where he was signed on a permanent deal. After neville kicked the shit out of him he got found out.

Martin Samuel pointed out that last season Arsenal had a better record in the league without Cesc

when he was out injured they went on that good run of form and when he came back they got spanked at home by United and Chelsea.

Funny how often that happens in football. Even Everton's results actually picked up when Rooney left, and - though I'd never choose to be without him - there was a spell when Stevie G was out and our own results improved.

It is strange, though i often think facts like this are better used to question why the remaining players can't play to a high level when a better player is in the team, rather than provide evidence to bash the 'star player' with.

Fabregas, Gerrard & Rooney have produced enough over to years to slot into any team in the world without question, obv

From SSN:

Desire

"I'm not sure how many times I need to talk directly about my commitment to Arsenal as I continue to say the same thing over and over again, but it appears that every time I have spoken to the Spanish media recently, my words have bounced back to England, leaving question marks about my future," he told the club's official website.

"So, for anyone who is unclear or may have misunderstood what my position is, let me make myself absolutely crystal clear. I am wholeheartedly committed to Arsenal and my future lies with this great club.

"It is a fact that we have not won a trophy for four years and yes, I am angry about that, but that anger stems from the deep desire I have to win things with Arsenal.

"I care about this club and believe in this team. I am proud to captain this team and proud to wear the shirt. It really upsets me when people express my thoughts otherwise.

"The spirit in this squad is fantastic and we have the ability and mentality to compete on all fronts for silverware. Make no mistake, we are focused and determined to show that we are capable of achieving great things together."

Come on Xabi and Mascher. Come out with something similar and put all our minds at rest.

Is this a sign of the domination sliding, or the start of it?

I was going to start a thread on it the other day,
but with all these departures, the problems over tax and the fact that our own players seem all too eager to court the attractions of Spain, is this the beginning of a new shift in power?

It's interesting there was an article in the US sports press the other day about how the next big chunk of TV rights money is not going to come from the middle east or Asia but from the US. Apparently the US spent more on world cup TV rights than anyone else. The market in the US is largely Hispanic and the TV deals that are being done are targeted at them and obviously La Liga.

Like you say add that to tax, exchange rate issues, and you could see the pendulum swinging. The issue in Spain though is that TV money doesn't trickle down as well as it does in our league. It'll be interesting though, let's face it who isn't bored of EPL hegemony.

Quotes;

1. Fabregas stopped short of saying he wanted to leave Emirates Stadium but insisted he needs to be "happy" during his career.
2. Martin Samuel pointed out that last season Arsenal had a better record in the league without Cesc.

All sounds like Gerrard circa 2005.

Fabregas is absolute quality, Arsenal better speculate to accumulate.

Fabregas to Madrid would quash the Alonso to Madrid links, but would it re-ignite the Alonso to Arsenal rumours from last season.
