Fabinho

He was outstanding. That ball to Salah was sublime, never mind that extraordinary strike. He hoovered everything up in midfield and made ourr CBs obsolete for most of the game. 10/10

Seems like he's growing more confident with his shooting game - starting to take free kicks too.

I'd like to see him take more long range shots - gives the opposition something completely different to think about.

It would be great to have this weapon in the team (hopefully not only Fabinho but Trent also developing the long-range shot ability in time). With players like Riise or Roberto Carlos, this is something that's always in the back of the opponent's mind that as soon as they get the ball, someone has to be ready to throw themselves in front of a cannon. The great thing about Fabinho (unlike, say, Riise) is that he is as capable of playing a delicate chipped through ball to Salah as of hitting a thunderbolt and it's very hard to defend against BOTH possibilities.

BTW I just rewatched all of Fabinho's goals for Monaco – not a single one of them is from long-range. However, there were a couple powerful drives from the far right corner of the penalty area (presumably from his right-back days), reminiscent of the technique for his 2 screamers this season. It looks like he's working on adding this weapon to his game.

I don't think he took free-kicks before either. Maybe next time he should try to hit one hard and flat instead of trying to curl over the wall.

One of the best performances from a midfielder we've had in a long long time.

Him and Virgil can give us two more options for free kicks. Both of them can blast them Riise style. Wasn't Fab great at pens for Monaco?

He great and proper DM that we've all been calling for since Macher left, but the club widely ignored.
He's the only midfielder I always want to see on the teamsheet, not really arsed of the other 2 that join him, they're interchangeable as they're about the same.
Cracking performance last night and a peach of a goal.

Yeah, but he wasn't blasting those pens, usually placing them (I know because I just watched all his goals, like I said), so you would not surmise from watching them that he can hit a 30-yard screamer. And I agree both Virg and Fabs should just blast the ball if they have a chance to take a free-kick – so far at LFC both of them have always tried to bend one and every time it went well over the bar.

This is from Barney Ronay in the guardian. I think this is giving Fabinho a huge disservice.

[article]Fabinho took 70 minutes to actually misplace a pass, his 60th of the game. Best of all was his second-half goal, a hard, flat, right-foot shot that went howling into the corner of the net at the same height it left his foot. Even a dogged Brazilian holding midfielder is still a Brazilian.

The signing that made me very pleased indeed, rated him and Alisson before they arrived, upset when news lingering around that United had got him and we are about to be stuck with Wijnaldum or Keita instead. As soon as we got him, I know he is going to change us. Didi Hamann with Latin American flair, what's not to like?

What news about Man I getting him? No one knew about the deal if I remember it correctly.

An object lesson in not jumping to conclusions about a player. Too many fans, here as well as elsewhere, were ready to write him off after his slow start for us.

Yeah that depends on who you were talking to. I know I was just one of a few on here that were delighted when we signed him! Maybe you were listening to Brendan again 😀

I'm still a tiny bit concerned about how bad he was before the break. It's not as if his position is the most pace-based in the team, and presumably he was declared fully fit before he returned, so that (for me at least) alarming loss of form isn't something I think is right to completely forget. Why did it happen? Is it a mental thing? Has it happened before? It's great to see him back to his best, or near to it, but presumably the backroom staff will keep a note of what happened and see what can be done to prevent it happening again.

Yeah, last season when he got injured against Napoli a completely transformed Henderson played there for the next few months while we had objectively the best form of any club in the history of world football ever. He was off the pace when he came back in and we started to look sluggish. Maybe the whole team was knackered. Either way, it's great that he's started back in some great form.
