Coentrao's a very good player, but I would worry about a back four with him and Magic as our full-backs. Both are VERY attacking.

Probably wishful thinking anyway...

Wingbacks in a 3-5-2?

Maybe it was Wright and Bjornebye i forget.

Mind you we played some great attacking football with that formation.

Ruddock wrote an article today stating that the current crop of players aren't fit enough to wear the shirt.

Which is ironic on at least two levels.

Reputed Anfield target nears Bernabeu switch

Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on Benfica defender Fabio Coentrao despite rumoured interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United.

The talented 22-year-old has in the last few weeks been strongly linked with a move to Anfield, but according to Portuguese publication Record, Jose Mourinho and the player’s representatives have a agreed a deal to bring the left-back to the Bernabeu during the summer.

In the aftermath of the World Cup finals, Coentrao was rumoured to be on Sir Alex Ferguson’s radar amid persistent reports regarding the long-term future of Patrice Evra, however the Frenchman’s agent recently confirmed to Sport.co.uk that the player is only thinking of Manchester United, and as a result, it appears Real Madrid have acted fast in their endeavours to solve the problematic left-back slot.

The Portuguese international still has five-years remaining on his current deal and the aforementioned newspaper suggests the fee between the two respective clubs is yet to agree but could be in excess of £20 million.

Makes sense. Portuguese player to join up with Mourinho AND they do need a LB.

They've got Marcelo?

I don't rate Marcelo that highly. Do Madrid rate him highly? They would probably be happy to replace him.
