who thinks Tevez will stay at Man Utd? can't see him going to City, it doesn't make sense.

I've been saying it for at least six months now and I see no reason to change my mind, I'll be amazed if he's at United next season.

He'll go where his owners tell him to and who pays them the most money, so City.

I fucking hate the twat to be honest. He reeks of manc now.

I've got a question for Rebel.

Say he does join City but they stay rooted in the bottom half next season. Disillusioned, he asks for a transfer which is accepted. At the time we are looking for someone who plays in the same position that Tevez fills. Would you buy him even though he's playing in a rubbish team?

that's difficult to answer but i'd lean towards no as I'm not a fan of signing players from Premier League clubs

So by that notion Rabble, you're saying you wouldn't be interested in any of Scum, Arse or Chav's top talent?

And another thing, Tevez has already proved he was capable in a top rate Scum AND a shite, relegation fodder West Ham team.

P.S

Masha was dogshit when he was with the Hammers.

What's the reasoning for that Rebel ?

have a look at the list of players we've signed from other Premier League teams over the last decade and then you might agree its not been a great policy for us.

I prefer to buy foreign or bring our own through, terrier: we never get their top players so it's a moot point. Mascherano was only parked at West Ham, he wasn't their player.

Oh dear.....

what are you oh dearing about?

the reason we have a poor record buying from other league clubs is because they very rarely will sell their best players to us and when they do they will charge a fucking fortune i.e Keane and they're usually poor in terms of ROI. while there have been plenty of foreign failures they tend to have a better ROI

I've done a little list, but excluded free transfers:

Benitez Transfers:
Craig Bellamy - not a success, sold for a profit
Jermaine Pennant - not a success, sold at a loss
Peter Crouch - mixed bag, sold for a profit
Scott Carson - failure, sold for a profit
Robbie Keane - failure, sold at a loss
Yossi Benayoun - success and cheap

Houllier signings:
Stefan Henchoz - success.
Didi Hamann - didn't come cheap at the time but proved to be worth every penny.
Emile Heskey - not a big success, one great season followed by some less than great ones. Sold for a loss.
Nick Barmby - meh, sold for a loss
Harry Kewell - Disappointment.

It hasn't been that bad.

I do think there's something to be said for not buying too many players from other Premiership clubs though, mainly because they're a lot more expensive and it's difficult to really derive any true value from the investment you make in them.

A simple example is if you wanted a guy capable of scoring 10 league goals a year - if you look at the Premiership players that can do that do you think many/any of them would go for less than £12m ?

Mark Hughes managed to sign two strikers capable of hitting double figures in the Premiership for peanuts. Santa Cruz for 4.5m and McCarthy for ... I dunno what he went for exactly but it was very little. Obviously there's a little bit more of a gamble involved but good scouting should remove a lot of the risk, so you'd be crazy not to consider overseas options (like Dzeko).

One of the curious things in our spending is that despite it being harder to get good value in Premiership dealings, most of our costly errors came from buying outside the Premiership (Diouf, Diao, Cisse)

A bit offtopic but since you've mentioned Dzeko, he's supposed to be on his way to Milan.

Yeah I read that earlier, I updated Oncy's thread a few mins ago. He's a Milan fan too so now that they're in contact I'd expect him to go, it'll be interesting to see the fee.

Oh God no, not again.

The reasoning behind tevez to city is the money and he doesn't wanna move his family or be second choice to rooney next season.. according to talksport

sort of makes sense he doesn't fit into the united team for next season, Rooney wants to be up front and gayboy is being played up front more frequently with valencia coming in to cover his midfield position / replace nani

I don't care where he goes - a good player but he doesn't fit our way of playing unless we want to replace kuyt or play 2 up front. If babel would just come good he'd be ideal....

Setanta Sports News told me last night that this whole 'Where does Carlos go?' debacle would be decided in the next 24-48 hours.

Is this true? I fucking hope so.

I don't want him to go to City - he's too good for them.

Tevez, Robinho, SWP, Barry, Ireland, Kompany, Given.... starting to put together a very good solid team there.

Why on earth not? I'm sure this has been done before...
