We're coming to the results end of the season. We're in third place. We should be delighted, but we got kind of excited at Xmas, and didn't expect the shite January which killed all our high hopes.

We've got a decent chance of making the CL. But we all know it's still not in the bag - we could end up 7th, we could end up 2nd. With all that in mind, given how disappointing Rodgers time with us was, and how Klopp came in last year, is our progress matching your expectations thus far?

Or not? Is this what you expected or season to be like?

I think we're pretty much par for the course. The early season excitement raised expectations, my own included, too high and the January slump was a reality check. I expected us to challenge strongly for the top 4 and that's where we are. Shame about the cups.

There was a great chance to win the League this season.

That chance won't be there next season.

CL qualification is the absolute minimum we should be looking to accept.

In all fairness that was said after we blew it under Rodgers and also last season with leicester, both ourselves and Leciester evidently fell away but id hardly say the top teams improved, if at all.

Costa/ponchetino/sanchez , theres plenty of opportunities for our rivals to take big hits this summer

I'll be very disappointed if we fail to achieve top 4 this season. After finishing 8th last season, getting in to the EL would be an improvement but after being in such a good position around Christmas then anything but CL qualification will feel like a massive let down.

Nah, the form of Chelsea has just been too good.

There was a great chance to give a really good top 4 finish.

As things stand, we're now reliant on other teams fucking up, which was kinda what I expected from the season to begin with.

I think I said 6th, so we're doing better than I thought, although I did expect a better run in the domestic cups.

I suppose the form we showed pre-Xmas raised expectations quite naturally for many fans.

League wise we are about where I expected. We still have a lot to prove by thr end of the season, though. Our glaring weakness is being able to win against stubborn, defensive teams who hit us on the counter. To finish in the top four, Klopp has to overcome by the end of the season. The cups were disappointing. Given we were out of Europe we should have done better and I wish Klopp made them more of a priority.

No one would have stopped Chelski this season. And especially not us. They are flying and will win it easily.
I wouldn't trust our squad to deliver a pizza. Fuck knows where we'll end up. Beat the Bloos this weekend and we'll look pretty decent for 4th.

Yeah, I'm usually a bit wary when people start banging on about how this season or that season was "our best chance" or "only chance" because next season something will have happened to make it less likely/ more likely; Team X will spend loads, Team Y will change manager, Team Z will have a settled team, Team whoever will understand how the manager wants them to play.

It never quite pans out how you think, because every season one or two teams under-perform, and one or two over-perform, and it's hard to win the title whatever way you look at it. Loads of people said the season we came second was "the best chance we'll ever get" because reasons. It's the best chance because we were near the top for most of it. The circumstances were immaterial.

And last season there were plenty saying Spurs or Arsenal had "blown it" because fucking hell, the league was so easy and wide open that shitty little Leicester won it! Well, they aren't going to win it this season, so how come it's all different? The same teams are in it. Spurs are still second. Just second to a different side.

Ahead of my expectations at the start of the season (6th) but behind when we ended the year (2nd).

This weekend is huge - if we can beat Everton on Saturday morning, I can look forward to Arsenal & Man City taking points off each other on Sunday afternoon.

Before the season started I felt good about Top 4 and predicted Chelsea to win the PL. Both based on the fact that we have good managers and neither team were involved in Euro matches. Still think that's going to happen.

Chelsea as champions is a given. Arsenal seem weak and in disarray and have a toughish run-in, Spurs are nailed on Top 3, good run-in, I'm surprised City are out of the PL - I thought they'd have another 2 games that would cost them PL points. So they will now make the Top 4 despite a tough run-in. United have a nightmare finish to the season and a good chance of winning the EL, they won't finish Top 4.

We'll comfortably finish Top 4 considering the many other matches between the other Top 6/7 teams where dropped points are of course a certainty, it gives us a certain leeway for matches against Everton, Southampton and WBA etc.. United have 5 remaining Top 7 games I think it is.

Last season was a good chance to win as we were before the Christmas run in near the top with not so much of a gap. But we blew up as per usual and then dropped to whatever. This season was another good chance but we witnessed a major fuck up. I have always said that every season we have a good chace of winning it but our managers and players let us down and have been for the last 26 years.

No European footy makes for a boring season. Since Xmas has been chronic, International breaks and no FA Cup. It's April next week for fucks sake.

Rodgers "disappointing time" saw us within a week of winning the title. I think we've done incredibly well, but we're still hampered by exactly the same problems that thwarted Rodgers - we can't defend in general and we drop too many points against the smaller sides.

Finishing in the top four would be what we hoped for, for this season. The flip side is that it's criminal the way we whimpered out of the cups with no European football to handicap us this season.

Klopp needs to improve his defensive side, his in-game decisions and his general stubborness when it comes to the blindingly obvious things that aren't working. For those reasons I have some doubts, but we're a work in progress so it takes to time for all of the pieces to come together. I just wish he'd shown the ability to think outside the box that is his own tactics, instead of trying to persevere with his system without always having the players to execute it, or against teams where it clearly hasn't been working and we've needed a different train of thought.

League position - great
Attack - great in patches, lacking a prolific marksman
Defense - same old
Flexibility - leaves alot to be desired

mark, i think one amazing improvement though is that I expect us to beat the big teams. Tremendous record. Would you agree this is a massive upgrade on the teethy one?

Well we smashed Everton, City, Arsenal and Spurs a few times under Rodgers, but our top 6 record this season and last has been consistently great. Hopefully that continues on Saturday.

My expectations are pretty much about the same as every season. Maybe if we spend a little more than usual his summer, that will change.

I dunno, I'd be quite relieved to get fourth.

I know that's not the same as "happy"

I would be ecstatic with 4th - look at the League table, who are we expecting to finish above? Chelsea are out of sight, Spurs are 3 points clear with a game in hand and much better goal difference, Man City are a point ahead with a game in hand and only -1 GD, Man Utd are on a long unbeaten run and are 4 points behind with 2 games in hand and Arsenal are 6 points behind with 2 games in hand.

This will be very, very tight

"our top 6 record this season" won't necessarily help us against 7th placed blueslime
