Yesterday, Rijkaard's agent Perry Overeem did little to cool that speculation when he made clear his client's interest in any vacant position at Anfield.
"Frank will return into football that is for sure. The question is when and where and that will not be answered now," Overeem said.
"It was only on Wednesday that the situation changed at Galatasaray and we are working on making sure that everything is sorted out there.
"We haven't been approached by anybody official (at Liverpool) yet and to me the current coach is still working with the support of Liverpool. Let us all wait and see what happens."

Roy Hodgson has defiantly hit out at suggestions that he will resign as Liverpool manager.
Pressure has mounted on the 63-year-old after the club's worst start to a domestic campaign in over 57 years - with Liverpool currently rooted in the bottom three of the Barclays Premier League.
Former Real Madrid boss Manuel Pellegrini and ex-Barcelona chief Frank Rijkaard are both understood to be interested in succeeding the former Fulham manager, with both currently unattached.
However, speaking after tonight's goalless draw with Napoli in the Europa League, Hodgson has dismissed rumours that he will stand down and maintains that he is determined to remain at the Anfield helm in the long-term and described rumours of an imminent resignation as 'ridiculous'.

Ayre tried to resign because he handled the Lim bids. Thats why he offered to leave as NESV as we all know got the deal. NESV told him that they didn't mind that he was responsible for the Lim bids and that it didn't mean anything regarding his future employment. They want him to stay on.
