Everton (H) - post Match

Ah, Danny Mills - as lovable off the pitch as he was on:

Jurgen Klopp has been slammed for his celebration against Everton - with Danny Mills believing he could be ARRESTED as a fan.

The German boss bounded on to the pitch after Divock Origi's dramatic last-minute winner for Liverpool to win the 232nd Merseyside derby at Anfield.

Origi nodded in following a Jordan Pickford mistake, leaving Anfield in rapture - and Klopp bounding on to the pitch and hugging Alisson Becker.

Yet former Leeds and England defender Mills has lambasted Klopp for his actions, labelling his behaviour shocking.

And after speaking to an Everton fan on the radio, Mills agreed he could have been arrested - if he had been a supporter.

"It's absolutely shocking what he does," he said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Go down the touchline, leave your technical area, celebrate with your staff. I don't have a problem with that at all.

"But to run into the middle of the pitch - if that's a fan, of course (he would get arrested). I think it's disrespectful to Everton, and he knows it.

"Yes it's a derby, it's a big game, but you cannot run into the middle of the pitch. Last minute or not."

On the way back from the match, all the talk on the radio was about Klopp's disgraceful act of running on the pitch. Nobody in the media has mentioned the behaviour of the Bitters who were pelting Liverpool players with missiles of various kinds including a mobile phone. After wonderboy Origi's goal, one of them chucked a blue flare on the pitch. I guess his thinking was that if he could not throw it to celebrate an Everton goal, it would be a shame to waste it.

Fabinho was very good, I think he would have been better alongside Milner, but anyway, he read the game exceptionally well with some vital interceptions, neat passing and he's another who's dominant in the air.
I agree, Fabinho played really well.

There's some gold commentary and some reflection on the BBC website of 5 live (annoyingly it cuts out just before the goal) Still it gave us this little chestnut.

"There's an Everton player down in the centre circle..... That's Gay...... He's still on his backside"... There's 5% of me that popped a boner. 😗

Then there is some great (albeit unintentional) reflection from Klopp.

"I love love love Div - Div has had a tough time after his injury but Div has come back stronger" - Just wish he'd have just stuck a few definite articles in there to make the grammar even funnier. Oh well you can't have everything..

If, and it's a big IF, we win our next two games, Man city travel to Stamford Bridge behind us in the table and maybe feeling the pressure for the first time.
We know from last season how Guardiola is somewhat intimidated by us so if we can somehow rekindle that fear then we might just see a few chinks appear in the Man City armour

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Honest to god, I’ve never seen anything like it in me life. That might have to do. Everyone gets 10.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Fucking hell.
We should have known. Three little mings dressed a bit like Father Christmas except in blue said merry Christmas to us in town about an hour before the game. The response. Go ed, lad. Merry Crimbo, gang. Let’s do this again next year.
I mean flare on the pitch three seconds before we score because they thought it had finished. Hahaha.
Divock Origi getting the sausage in his first act in football since Ramiro Funes Mori did the most celebrated thing at Anfield by a Bluenose for pretty much 20 years. Their mad little ‘keeper keeping it in. One of the lads here said he had on a shirt that was too tight, so he couldn’t raise his arms. Like a jazzy Next work shirt your bird bought you. Imagine being them, la. Hahaha.
We will never see anything like that again in or lives. Might as well jib it, you know. We might have completed footy, there.
Alisson: 9
Two world-class saves and a hug from Jürgen Klopp. Hahahaha. Best I have seen.
Trent: 9
Played well, you know. But none of this matters. Because hahaha. Was it Trent involved in the little kick off at 95 minutes that led them to sing murderers, and lashing phones on the pitch, and the added time for our goal? Extra point if so.
Virgil: 9
I mean, I thought we had a deal whereby he scores in December at home against the Blueshite. But all day long, I’ll take him slicing one up in the air and their ‘keeper wafting at it with his fake arms. Hahaha.
Joey: 9
Hahaha. I don’t even know. Richard’s lad up front for them was good but so was Joey. But you know, Pickford and that.
Andy Robbo: 8
Boss. We tried to get on the pitch when we scored. The steward was incredibly strong for a 70-year-old fella. Adam Melia gave everyone a hug as they left.
Gini: 8
Better second half from a virtually non-existent Gini first half. But if he had played any better that wouldn’t have happened, so you know. The greatest thing these eyes have ever seen.
Fabinho: 8
Thought he was our best midfielder. Made a few good tackles, most involved midfielder says Adam Melia.
Shaqiri: 7
Missed that sitter first half but then you the drill. Without that we wouldn’t have had this. All of them should be carried around on our shoulders until they die. Twenty-four hour call out. What do you need, Shaqo lad.
Mo Salah: 7
When Klopp took him off I thought it was the worst decision ever made. Then he brought Divock on to run the channels and I thought it was even worse than that. What a bellend I am.
Sadio: 8
Best forward for The Reds. Pissed me off when he picked up his mate, instead of doing something else for The Reds.
Firmino: 7
Thought he struggled. Looked knackered, but then he went off for Divock and the rest is the best moment of all our lives.
SUBS
Hahaha. I don’t even know.
DIVOCK: 10
So good he only needs two chances from point-blank range. Not my words. The words of the mercurial Adam Melia. The greatest thing I think I have ever seen at Anfield. Honest to god. He can move into ours, you know. I’m decorating the spare room at the minute, that will be lovely for me. A hero. Honestly. Keep him for ever, play him once. Hahaha.

As the seconds ticked away during the time that was added on - all I could think of was - "fuck potentially out of the CL, and now any hope of winning the league down the fucking drain". Honestly that ball when it left VVD - I just thought fuck it and then the goal went in, and for an instant I actually thought it maybe diss-allowed, but then the celebrations kicked off and we had 3 points - hope restored !!!! Thought Allison had a great game, and so did Fabinho, I really did not want Firmino to start that game - my initial feelings would be to have Shaq in place of him, and also have the added ability of Keita in midfield. Really think Firminio is completely not there this season - and we need to give Keita playing time to get him into proper form and providing the required drive from midfield.

Thought the pundits were over-praising that Andre Gomez guy too much, I thought Fabinho, and Gini did well together - and as in the past having them both means we don't pass back as often - the whole movement was more forward thinking than pass back bollox. Though Mane' should have put away those chances though.

Just get some perspective on the whole celebration thing, remember this?

We all thought he acted like a tool.
Love Klopp, but I can understand other fans being pissed off. He did the right thing afterwards though which might keep the FA off his back.

First off Andre Gome(s) was brilliant arguably the best player on the pitch and caused us trouble the entire game.

Secondly, Fabinho did well but wasn't great, mainly because Everton barely gave us any time on the ball so our midfield did look a bit disjointed at times.

However, what Fabinho offers us instead of Henderson is more ball retention, cutting passing lanes, basically better defending but our midfield is a lot less static as well.

Fabinho like Henderson can also pass it sideways but unlike our Captain he makes runs, takes a player with him, which opens up space. Henderson usually just passes it sideways and stays where he is, delegating the attacking responsibility to one of the fullbacks or one of the CB's.
The positive thing with that is that Henderson sticks to his position, which is normally great, another body in midfield means less open space to counter. But it's not so great when he more often than not opts to cover than to challenge for the ball. The stats prove it.

So why is Klopp opting for Henderson than Fabinho? I can only guess and my guess is that he wants Henderson to play like he's playing. Stick to his position, work hard, close down other players ala "gegenpress", distribute the ball, don't take any chances.

Soooo does the big Div get more game time now?

I was going to post in the match thread that I still think he has something but couldn't be arsed listening to the ridicule.

Obviously this always happens when someone pulls something out of the bag like sturridge against Chelsea but I'm not impressed with the striking options at the moment it could maybe do with a new face in the rotation.

Sadly I doubt that Origi has that much potential, as he had plenty of outings for LFC without impressing, and loanee clubs Lille and Wolfsburg weren't anxious to hang on to him.

However, football is all about hope, and I think he is worth a place on the bench. He somehow looks more solidly-built than he used to. Maybe it is just the effect of the dreadlocks.

Andre Gomes was really good though. I have no idea who he was initially.

It's kind of Roy Of The Rovers stuff. You know possibly his last game for the reds and to pop up with that winning goal at the Kop end in the 95th minute means he will forever go down in Anfield history. No-one will forget that in a hurry.

I remember Mellor in his short career scoring a fantastic goal at Anfield against Arsenal.
I remember that game too. We were down to our bear bones with injuries and stuff. He was like 4th choice but all we had at the time. A great day.
