As he wears Ever on the back of his shirt, i nominate we give him Aquas number and allow him to have his name below his number!!

If signing him means I get to roll out my Ever Banega/Copacabana song then I'm all for it too

Ever Banega, he's Argentinian
It means he's a dirty cheat, but he's good with both his feet
He is a bad boy, he likes the webcams
And while he might have seen his arse
Well he can sure pick out a pass
Switches from flank to flank, shots like they're from a tank
And when he gets home on Saturdays
He will film his wank

His name is Ever, Ever Banega
It only rhymes with the word Sega
I said Ever, Ever Banega
Football and passion and hot web-porn action
With Eeeeeevvvvveeeerrrrrr . . .
[/quote]

You could make it rhyme with Jenga, or the Scots nickname for Agnes, 'Senga'. OrI know it isn't a proper rhyme, but a bloody good half-rhyme. Plus- 3rd line- 'ass' is the word that will rhyme with pass.

Other than that, good song.

Best move Benitez could make is to sign a proper replacement for Alonso so the player can make our lineups make sense.

I don't know if Banega would do it but I think he's a better option in the role than Aquilani who is just never a deep-lying playmaker.

Great little player, good engine, very good passer of the ball, skill and creative and can actually dribble past a man. BUT he's 4"2ish, and we would have the smallest midfield duo in the world.

10 mill euro buy out, if thats true then whoever negotiated his contract on Valenicas behalf should be out of job.

4'2??? Come on...there is a limit to exaggeration. He is as tall as Michael Owen, Luca Modric and Scott Parker. If we can get a left back who can head the ball competently, we should be ok. Do try and remember that he will be replacing Lookass who is not exactly the 'Arial Power-house'.

From wiki...
Full name Éver Maximiliano David Banega
Date of birth 29 June 1988 (age 21)
Place of birth Rosario, Argentina
Height 1.74 m (5 ft 81?2 in)

He's still a small player, and Lucas acutally wins most of the headers he goes for.
But, Banega is on a different planet when it comes to skill and passing. As I said, good little player. Wouldn't mind him at all.

I just checked wiki out of curiosity. It says that Insua is now 179 cm....that does not seem right. He looks like he is the shortest player on the pitch.

Has he grown since he broke his leg (or since whatever injury he suffered?)

I'm about 180cm and I was stood next to him in the supermarket a while back (lucky me), he wasn't too much smaller than me. Sounds about right.

This story is doing the rounds again after two weeks of quietness! Its on the official site....not necessarily true, but hey,......we desperately need new players and the sooner they start to arrive the better!

If Rafas on a shoestring budget then 8.5 million for Banega and selling Aquilani to juve (read it in the rags) for £15 million wouldnt be a bad bit of business indeed!

That video makes me want Mata more than anything but Banega he'd be a good buy.

Let's sign both.

Juan Matas more

Very good.

With Barca looking unikely to come in for Mascherano because of the Cesc "deal", is Banega a direct replacement for Lucas?

Just read that Yaya Toure has signed for an English club probably Citeh (turned down the Gunners) for about 30 million. Just wondering if once they are done with the Cesc negotiations, whether they will come in for Mascherano.

That video tell me two things.

First of all it reminds me of the summary of Aquilani during the Pompeys game.

Second, on this video he has quick players who is actually moving in an attacking pattern ahead of him, while Rafa prefers slow players who is good at tracking back. So why show this video when the style of football shown is nowhere near what Liverpool prefer to play....? Good player, but not one who will suit Liverpools style.

Do you ever even watch Valencia? They pay a similar formation. Banega plays in the 2 in midfield with Albelda. He'd be perfect to give Lucas more time on the bench! Strong in possesion and still only 21!

But alas, you must be right because liverpool never attack, Torres never moves in an attacking pattern, either does gerrard, Glen Johnson never gets forward either......fuck sake!!

This is what happens when someone pastes a youtube video! Its not very likely that someones going to upload an 'Ever Banega tracking back compilation video' just to please you so generally all you get is his attacking clips!

Hahaha

I've only seen him once or twice and he's a decent footballer.

He'd only be worth pursuing if we got a decent bid for Aquilani, which is unlikey.
