I know he had that dreadful game but is it not a little strange that he's been so unceremoniously binned?

No rooms for those kind of fuck ups.
It's very sad cause Hungary are playing in the Euro's for the first time in ages and he might not make it.

Poor Flanagan, but I suppose it was always tricky, with just 3 new names allowed. I'm not sure if the Ward-for-Bogdan swap was really necessary, but I guess you never know given how injuries have hit us this season. I'm not sure Ward's that much of an upgrade over Bogdan.

Alternatively, Caulker could've been omitted instead in favour of Flanagan. Perhaps it shows Klopp's low confidence in the CBs that he prefers to include Caulker instead of adding the only capable RB backup to the squad. Anything happens to Clyne and we'll have to turn to the inexperienced Randall.

Teixeira's finally included though, so yay. Not sure if he'll even play though.

What does that say about Mign getting a new contract despite clangers every game (not as monumental as Bogdan)?

That's what I was gonna say. Ming has had numerous games littered with awful clangers.

Is Bogdan really that bad?

Is Bogdan really that bad?

Probably not. Pesam was still saying after the mistakes that he thought Bogdan was a decent keeper from seeing him at previous clubs. But Bogdan fluffed his lines when he got his chance with us in the leeague and I don't think there was any coming back for him.

Maybe it means that Flanno is likely to get a good run at left back in the league and FA Cup and so Moreno can cover the Europa League.

Possibly, but it doesn't sound like a good plan to me. What if Clyne got injured for a month or two next week? We'd then be left with Randall to cover at RB in a competition which is our only remaining (though not likely) ticket to the CL next season. It'd seem to me the better plan might be to just stay with Mignolet backed up by Bogdan and then Fulton while adding Flanagan to the squad. If we don't end up using him (Flanagan), fine - at least we know we've the option.

Ward, while tested at Aberdeen in the SPL, hasn't played a minute for us, so who knows what to expect when the time comes for him to come into action. We're basically saying Ward > Bogdan with this move, and I'm unconvinced. Keepers are less likely to get injured versus outfield players, and especially one (Clyne) who has played shit loads of games running up and down the pitch.

I still think it's a bit risky to choose Ward over Flanagan. But who knows, maybe Bogdan has been totally broken since his disastrous pair of games.
