Europa League

Toulouse stands out in my memory as the ground where that to$$er Voronin scored his one and only decent goal for us, a long-range belter for a 1-0 win.

I'm holding off on the "we should walk this" talk BTW. We can do without loading that on ourselves IMHO..

The comp is worth €20m
So, fuck all.

Going through the long, hard trouble of winning a competition only for it to not even pay the wages of 2 players....

The only benefit from the EL is winning it after you've had a terrible domestic campaign finishing outside the top 4....then and only then can it be viewed as some sort of saving grace.

Its a trophy that's more prestigious than the FA Cup, we aren't winning the league, so this is the next best thing. I'd take it over a top 4 finish

I wouldn't. The Premier League and the Champions League are the only, as in ONLY, trophies worth winning in their own right. Winning the Europa League gets you into the Champions League and that's its one and only value, especially when you have to pay the price of coping with Thursday night European ties in order to do so.

You're saying the same thing, JJ... We're not in the European Cup and we're not winning the league according to BB, so this is the next biggest thing. And he's right.

Would you really take 3rd or 4th and no trophy at all over 5th but this trophy that also gets us back into the big one next season? I wouldn't. I don't think that many would. If we're in it, we may as well win the flippin' thing.

You do not need to be a Dubliner to react like that when you suddenly find out Liverpool could be playing in the final in Dublin. Fuck the tickets, just go for the craic
Aye I would be there for sure tickets or no

No, old pal, with respect I'm not saying the same thing at all. I see no value whatever in any trophy outside the big two and would cheerfully forgo Thursday night footy, and the toll it takes on a squad and its league chances (which could quite conceivably mean we end up with neither a pot nor a CL place), were LFC guaranteed 3rd or 4th instead. I agree up to a point about trying to win it now we're in it, but the Prem would be priority 1 for me if there were any kind of clash between the two.

Only thing I disagree with you on here is that this is the one trophy that DOES have a value, as winning it gets us back into the big one the following year. If it didn't have that enticement to win it, I'd field the U-18 in every round, for as far as they could go.
