Think i'm going to wedge a few quid on Ze Germans for the Euros. They're an immensely impressive outfit.

Sound bet that.

Btw... Group of debt.

Instant Classic 😀

The seedings For the play offs and championships are based on uefa's coefficient ranking system.

This system itself is based on former matches with 40% of the total from the last world cup qualifying and final tournament, 40% from the last European Championship qualifiers and tournament and 20% on the world cup 06 qualifiers and tournament.

It's a bit stupid though in that you get the same amount of points for a win whether you beat Spain or the Faroes. Only difference being you get more points for every goal scored.

The really stupid thing is that Poland and Ukraine are in Pot 1. As someone said you would almost rather be in Pot 2 if you were Spain and Holland. Also lets say Greece instead of Spain had won the last one, then that would of knocked Holland into Pot 2 as holders are seeded number 1 automatically too!

Theres gonna be one or two proper horrible groups ay?
Youve the potential (as England) to be in a group with Spain, Portugal and France. FUCK THAT!

Sorry to say this Irishers and I dont mean this the way it sounds but i do hope we get you or the Czechs and obviously Poland or Ukraine.
No offence taken Oncey.
I think there will be a good few of the Irish supporters hoping for the same thing.

That said, as horrible as his football is to watch, Trapp has Ireland playing to a very effective game plan, which seen them only lose once in the World Cup 2010 qualifying campaign, against France in the play offs and once during the current qualifying campaign, against Russia.
Ironically, and it may help them in Euro 12, there away form is better than their home one.

Pot 1: Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine
Pot 2: Germany, Italy, England, Russia
Pot 3: Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Sweden
Pot 4: Denmark, France, Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland

I'll take Poland, England, Greece please for Ireland.

Ireland Greece would possibly be the worst 90 minutes of football in history.
Don't know if it could be worse than Ireland Norway in 94

If Greece were to play and beat Ireland it would be the worst 90 minutes ever. If Ireland win though that would be a different story....

When is the draw?

Group of Debt gag is a good un.
The draw for euro 2012 is on 2 december at 18:00 CET. I think.

Having both hosts in pot one is retarded...as is having ze germans in pot 2..... they qualified with 30 points and 2.7 goals a game.

Great.

I can't wait, there is nothing better than when Ireland make it into a major finals, brings back loads of great memories.

*Stares off into the distance*
Donegal, Wee pub with a crappy tv and poor reception, turf fire in the summer. Tayto Cheese & Onion and a glass bottle of coke and all the family actually having an interest in the football.

@Amber

That rating system is bonkers. More points the more goals you score and no difference whether you see of Spain or San Marino?

Anyways a group containing both Germany and Spain would kind of ruin the tournament. Even same could be said with Netherlands and Germany. Three best teams all bound for the later stages.

Anyone but those three nations mind and most teams will have got a chance of winning a few matches. Unless of course England suddenly starts to play proper football with their best players mind.

I can kind of understand the top seeding for the host/s the problem here is that it's two mediocre teams this time around. But it's evident they'll be firing on all cylendars with tons of fans rooting them along. There's an advantage there at least.

@KHL yeah it's a strange system alright : 50,000 for a win and 501 points per goal scored and -500 for each goal conceded.

If Spain Germany were in one group and both qualified would that mean they couldn't meet again until the final? That would be alright.
