EURO 2020

That is the weakest Spanish squad in many years, the fact they're bringing Adama Traore just highlights how average the squad is!

I am very surprised by Southgate's selections, it's actually a decent squad. Alexander-Arnold is included. Although it's a 33 man squad which Southgate will trim to 26 next week......so no doubt he will fuck up the trimming.

It's a selection of 33. How could he fuck that up?

Just so that he can excuse himself from picking Grealish and Trent in the final 26 then he can come out with they either looked too tired or not fit enough in training camp.

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Man Utd), Sam Johnstone (West Brom), Jordon Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Sheff Utd)

Defenders: John Stones (Man City), Luke Shaw (Man Utd), Harry Maguire (Man Utd), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Kyle Walker (Man City), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa), Reece James (Chelsea), Conor Coady (Wolves), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Ben Godfrey (Everton), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid), Ben White (Brighton)

Midfielders: Mason Mount (Chelsea), Declan Rice (West Ham), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Phil Foden (Man City), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds), Jesse Lingard (Man Utd), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Raheem Sterling (Man City), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Mason Greenwood (Man Utd), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund)

So 7 to drop out. I've inked mine in Red.

No way Tripper is left out, it's one of Southgate's favourite players. It's like leaving out Pickford for him. Never gonna happen.
I agree but both Pickford and Trippier should be left out.

I'd leave out; Pickford, Trippier, Godfrey, White, Phillips, Watkins and Saka.

This is Southgate you're talking about! I expected him to pick players like Winks, Dier, Wan Bissaka, Holding, Smalling etc.

I would have gone for Ings ahead of Watkins and Calvert-Lewin.......and Nat Phillips ahead of Maguire obviously.......Fuck it, Phillips to captain the squad.

No Ings is a bit mad. I can understand Calvert-Lewin being in there as a big fella off the bench and need to throw everything at a team.

Ings would be the one you'd bring on with you are dominating a game and just need a finisher to take a half chance.

Pickford - arms too short
Trent - retired
Henderson - retired
Grealish - the drink driving moron has or ought to have no means of transportation to wembley stadium
Sterling - there is no need to put up with his woke virtue signalling during every interview
Kane - this cunt failed in every prior tournament, not even as good as the scum strikers any more, would just start ahead of them, ohhh wait a minute...
Rashford - lest he carry the team and their twat of a manager past the group stages
Greenwood - lest he carry the team and their twat of a manager past the group stages

TAA, Kyle Walker (Man City), Reece James (Chelsea) or Kieran Trippier. Can't take 4 x RBs so one is missing out. For me that's Trippier.

Bloody hell, 33 players? It also looks as if Southgate has bowed to incessant criticism in the media about Alexander Arnold. He'll not take him, though and, as gutted as the lad will be, he needs a break this summer.

I think I'm right in saying he's the only manager so far who hasn't just picked his final 26. This pratting about picking 33 players just makes him look inept, indecisive and confused. He's been England manager for quite a few years, he knows these players very, very well, he watches them play every week, he knows their strengths and weaknesses......not picking his final 26 now just makes him look weak.

His explanation was kinda valid though. A bunch of national team players, I think 12, are involved in European cup finals (City, Man U, Chelsea) so that's why he picked a bigger squad.
Why not wait?
Well, it's because the CL final is on the 29th and they need to submit the list before the June 1.
I'm guessing that Southgate will get the team together some time before the final and probably wants the fringe players around in case of injuries. You know, so he doesn't have to send a private jet to Ibiza to get Trent.
