He was RB last match I saw.
How does he do there?
Jogi Löw must have missed the second leg against Villareal if he's still insisting on playing the Can man as a defender.
He's much better in midfield.

Who does he compete with in the defensive Midfield position? Surely he's in the top two in that spot.
Khedira and Kroos mainly I think.
Thanks Cloggy. Kroos is better but I haven't seen Khedira really be that good for a while.
Weigl is another specialist DM, as is Bastian Pigstacker, although he can hardly run anymore. I thought he'd actually retired from International football.
He looked uncomfortable and shaky at times when he played there for Germany in the u21 Euros last year in their matches I saw.
Kroos can't tackle, he certainly needs someone mobile who can handle some of the nasty stuff next to him.

He's injured though, right? He also missed the World Cup two years ago due to injury.
Also no Brandt who seems highly rated on here.
